I recently purchased a 2014 Tundra in the 1794 edition (69k miles). I haver never owned a toyota so I'm behind the curve on some things it does/don't do, but onto my question. In my other vehicles, when I arrive at work, I can open my back door, lock the truck with key fob put my keys in my pocket while i get the rest of my equipment on. This truck just beeps its ass off and will not lock until close all the doors and hit the lock button again. Is this a Toyota thing or am i missing something. I just had a 2021 loaner and it would lock with the door open. Is there a hack to turn off the seat belt chime? I have tried the video using the odometer reset button and it will not work on my truck.

Mods I noticed that my first post is in the TRD section please move to the appropriate location if needed.

    Thank you!

Welcome to the forum from CO! Mine also beeps with the door open if you try to lock it. Not sure if there’s a workaround for that. Maybe someone else knows…as for the seatbelt chime, the easiest hack ever…put your seatbelt on! If that doesn’t sound appealing, it can always be disabled using Techstream and a laptop, at your own risk of course.

Thank you that answers the beeping is normal. As for the seatbelt I always wear it on the road, but last month during deer season and opening gates, the seat belt alarm does not mess around!

Welcome from OKC! Two alternatives, dummy seat belt buckle males can be purchased or you can just buckle it before you get in.

I used the Carista app and bluetooth obd plugin to turn the seatbelt chime off. Worked perfect

I have the Veepeak Obd2 adapter and it worked fine. Typically the apps have ones they recommend.

I use these when driving on the beach. Better then buckling the seat belt!
