18-19 mpg on these new trucks in winter will turn in to 23-24 this spring when they've loosened up and winter blend fuel is gone.
Break in isn't as big of a deal as it used to be but it's still a thing. The super tight tolerances everything is built to take a bit of time to loosen up and rings take a while to mate and seat fully. My 2019 model 4stroke bass boat motor gained 150-200 rpm with the same prop between hour 10 and 75. That doesn't sound like much but in the boat world that's alot.

What I'll be interested to see is the hybrid. I know it's been said it's more for power than fuel economy but if it's active at highway speeds the light foot guys "should" see some impressive numbers.

I would caution you guys not to be overly optimistic, the TFL guys graded the new Tundra in the fuel economy dept as just average to the competition.

 

I do have good information. These trucks are proving to get over 20 mpg at 60+ mph. As I see more and more people reporting as so. See a guy post today he’s averaged 24 mpg in his few few hundred miles of city driving. Who knows what “city driving” means to him. Talked to another guy who was getting 18 mpg going 80mph that’s not bad imo.

 

My 19 is heavily modified , lockers 5:29 gears, lift, weight etc It gets 11 heavy footed city 19 babying it and staying under 70mph on flat freeways. Not in our high altitude mountains with 10% winter ethanol .

After my Raptor I would expect better fuel mileage on the v6tt in light throttle cruise and stop and go . But with the extra torque the new tundra motor makes if you are a conservative driver you won’t be pushing the gas pedal as hard . But heavy footed drivers like me won’t be buying it for or even calculating gas mileage or looking at gas prices.

I get 16.5-17 when I'm riding a mix of the highway and the farm, moreso the highway. Highway only, in eco, 20.5. 20 ft dovetail with a '13 Tacoma on it, 11.5

 

The youtuber “enjoy the ride” has averaged 20.5 mpg for his first 1,300 miles.

 

Anyone put any tires lt tires on yet? Maybe 34 or 35’s and see how it affects it? Probably the fist thing I’m gonna do when I get it and I know I’ll take a hit on mpgs. Im looking at 295/70r18. Although I plan on getting the pro so it being a hybrid may help since it will be using the electric motor to help take off from what I gather.

 

For those reporting mileage I would love to see actual math at the pump, not what the computer is saying. Is that what people are reporting?

 

I'd also like to know what Drive Mode was used and if the truck was unladen or not.

 

On one leg the stuckinmud guy got 25mpg hand calculated

 

The leg was 325 miles and his speed was 60 to 65 mph.

 

This is the only guy I have seen doing mpg review with his truck which seems very odd at this point. But he’s getting great fuel mileage.

 

Finally got one of my own. Drove it home averaging about 60 mph. 37 degrees, raining.

winter weather close to mine so relevant.
video shows 13.8 to low 14.'s liters/100 for mileage.
thats 17 mpg.
he has 1500 kms on the odo.

If he’s anything like me I’m spending more time in my truck idling then actually driving the thing lol.

 

Well, that’s slightly better than my 1st gen Ridgeline economy, maybe equal too if I slowed down , so for me that’s a plus. Winter tires, gas & driving style included maybe even better!

 

According to dash, 16 mpg before wheels and tires, now I'm in the 14s after wheels and tires

 

the 1st gen Ridgeline has a great engine. I used it loaded down all the time and got 12.5 - 13.5 liters/100kms - 2 hours drives back and forth to Haliburton.
My 2.5 gen Tundra with the 5.7 loafs along and it gets the same mileage as the Ridgeline when used for this purpose.
Unbelieveable level of reserve power in comparison.
My sons 4runner and he drives spirited gets 11.5 -12 liters / 100kms. with the 4.0 liter engine.
So I am not impressed with 13-14 liters / 100 kms.
From reports I have seen,
I am pretty sure the way I would use it loaded down going up hills I would get no better than the 13.5 and up liters/100 kms and up.
Its a damn heavy truck much heavier than a Ridgeline and it would be on boost alot.
My truck is not used as a grocery getter, and idling in traffic.

 

What size wheels and tires?

 

the active front air dam is large and was designed at speeds it deploys at to work with the factory tire/wheels for mileage. See how low to the ground it is.
If you have raised the truck with new tires/wheels you can be sure the air dam is not working as designed at those speeds and to the negative now, along with the rolling resistance from the new tires.

 

I got my 22 about three weeks ago and I’ve averaged 19 mpg with mixed driving. That includes warming up the truck for 5-10 min every morning. This last tank was about 17.5 mpg with lots of wind from the cold front we got here in Texas last week. That’s typical for a turbo charged vehicle in my past experiences

Who the hell only drives 60 to 65 mph on a highway?

Where I live even rural two lane highways are 65 mph, but everyone drives 70 mph. Divided highways are posted at 70 mph or 80 mph.

 

I drive 55, but I was never a Sammy Hagar fan anyway.
