    Greetings from CO!

My wife and I are finally upgrading our 20 year old 4Runners. I had the legendary V8 that I just parted with last weekend. Sold in 14 hours! I kept my wife’s 2005 4Runner V6 and got her a 2011 Lexus GX460.

Here is where I need help! Yes, I have search the forums and read the newbie thread… Did all my research on engine types, etc.

Please help me understand the bed rust rot issue… I get the frame issues, I own 4Runners. But some members complain of an undersized bed rust out issue at the bolts. Did a newer model ever solve this? What year should I look at? I am sticking to rust free purchase, but the bed thing is odd.

    Hopefully I’ll get something in 3-20 months, 2010-2015, 4x4, 5.7 with under 130-150k miles.

appreciate the help as I’ve gotten way to many answers on cause of bed rust and then I never saw where it cleared up, just a recall on early ones.

Welcome from Aurora. My 07 Tundra spent 12 years here in CO. Zero bed rust. Same with frame. Some minor surface rust on the inside of my rear OEM chrome bumper. My 14 was also pretty much rust free. Magnesium Chloride used here is nowhere near as corrosive as Sodium Chloride used in other states in the winter.

Definitely not a major issue here in CO.

Thanks all for the help last year! We FINALLY got a Tundy! It was between a 2012, 2007, 2011 and a 2016. All Crewmax and 5.7 4x4. Differences in trim. Best deal was on a private sell 2016 Tundra Platinum with topper. We’d planned on a topper, rear camera and many other things, so purchasing this with the items was only like 1-2k more than some of the others.

We LOVE it! Already did the LED swap on the interior/exterior, a big deep clean and finished security tint for the topper and truck.

Once it warms up in CO all fluids, plugs and other items are on the docket. Love this forum for ideas and suggestions.

Crazy the size on these coming from a 4runner which we thought was roomy. Can’t wait to get this out camping and hunting!
