I just installed the TRD duel exhaust and it was relatively easy thanks to the OP of the detailed thread on how, but I'm no Charlie Daniels of the torque wrench. I want to know what I can do to add to with that exhaust system to increase hp, mpg, performance in general etc. I know there are tons of posts about these topics, but for those of us that are not familiar with most of the terminology and how to benefit from the info, it would be helpful to me if y'all could simply list some dyi things. Thanks for the info.

TC long travel. Deaver 420 SU leaf packs.
Long tube headers and a super charger. Independently or together, those are the only 2 serious improvements for HP gains. Some say SABM is worth the small effort required. Cold air intakes are waste as per the general consensus.

Take this with a grain of salt; I am mildly interested in more performance from my truck, and I've perused a lot of threads on the subject. Here are my findings. Take this more as a jumping-off point for the discussion rather than cold hard truth:

    • Aftermarket mufflers don't add HP. Good ones seem to only prevent you from losing a bit.
    • Throttle programmers (like the Pedal Commander) can make it feel like you're getting more performance from your truck, but they do not add power of any kind to your drivetrain.
    • People have very mixed reviews regarding cold air intakes. Some say no difference at all; others say they can feel it (IMO the butt dyno is not the most reliable method).
    • Headers can add some performance.
    • For real results, your options are a supercharger and gears.
    • For real results, prepare to spend money. Pay to play.
    • People don't seem to swap gears to add performance but rather to get lost performance (from putting 35s or 37s on their truck) back.

Sometimes, I think that sticking with 285/75s like I have now would be ridiculously awesome with a SC and 4.88s. :burnrubber:

Thanks for the info. Headers and/or super charger is what my focus should be it sounds. Not sure if I can spend a lot of money right now but at least I have a direction.
