Need some help! (Plug)

2018 tundra was recently in a wreck and took out whole right side on fender to core support. I have a 6 wire where a connector goes that I believe is for park sensor but has no connector. It's bare wire now. Anyone know how to wire this connector for it. Please help anyone.

 

Toyota sells the empty connectors. You just have to get a new one from dealer and insert your pins in this photo

 

I just don't know how the pins go. I have the connector coming in. Just can't find a diagram or picture of what color goes in what slot.

Oddly enough, @Jmorales73801 posted damn near the same question in the Wiring Diagram thread this afternoon/evening.

I'm going to answer both of you here, but I'm going to use the wiring diagram from that thread to reference. So if you want to download the wiring diagrams from over there, I'd recommend doing so for future use.

The EWD you want to download (to start) is the System Circuits for 2018-2021


Page 316 of that PDF is the start of the "Parking Assist" diagram. Page 2 of that specific section (page 317 of the entire PDF) shows the "No. 1 Ultrasonic Sensor (Front Right)" and it identifies connector "B1" and shows wire colors going to the sensor.

A couple of pages further in (page 320 of the PDF), you see connector B1 is a black connector.


Except, there's a problem here. The wires you are showing in your picture don't match those colors at the actual sensor. Further, you can see the remnants of a piece of white connector. So, if we look at that same image above, we see that connector AB1 has colors that do match your picture, and just a little further into the same document (now on page 322 of the PDF) we see that connector AB1 (a junction connector) is white.


So, you are holding in your hand the wires for the "female" (based on the actual terminals) side of the AB1 junction connector. And then from AB1 out to B1 is an entire wiring harness that you are missing that will plug into the actual sonar device.

Cruising back over to the wiring diagram thread, and pulling down the "Connector Data Sheets" for letters "A through I" we can find connector AB1 and determine that the part number(s) are 90980-12382/90980-12381 (the first number is the female housing, and the second number is the matching male housing). So to replace the plug for the connectors you are holding in your hand, you will want to order 90980-12382 from your parts dealer.

Now, you need to pay attention to the wire positions. In the image of AB1, the female housing is the one on the left. And those pin numbers correspond to the positions of the terminals when you are looking at the FRONT of the connector (not the end the wires actually enter from). Make sure you push the terminals in using that knowledge or you'll end up incorrectly connected. Heading back over to that Ultimate Wiring Diagram thread again, you can download the Wire Harness Repair Manual for some light reading on how exactly to re-assemble that housing with those terminals in it when you get it (at least your wires look to be fully intact and that makes that part a lot easier). It explains that part about how to read the pin numbers as well...and that is very important.

Of course, we still have some missing parts. We need to get the wiring from the AB1 junction out to the actual sonar device. For that, I start back at the Ultimate Wiring Diagram Thread and this time I need the "Location and Routing" part of the manual. Go to the "Wire and Wire in Engine Compartment <3UR-FE, 3UR-FBE>" section (page 30 of that PDF) and find the AB1 connector - it's pointing at a junction from light blue to dark blue wiring harness.

Next, go to the "Ground Points in Engine Compartment <3UR-FE, 3UR-FBE>" section (page 34 of the PDF) and look at the label on that dark blue harness - Engine Room Main No. 3 Wire.


I head over to https://parts.toyota.com/ and dive into the parts diagrams. Start with Trucks ->Tundra -> 2018 and then enter that entire phrase in the search box. Scroll down the results, and you'll see this little gem in there:


In this particular case, that is the ONLY Wire, Engine Room, No. 3 result, and looking at the "what this fits" tab, you'll see this applies to pretty much every Tundra (that has parking assist) from year 2013 and forward. The "stock code" is the part number without the hyphen between the first 5 characters and the last 5 characters. So your wiring harness from the sonar unit back to AB1 (which will include the male side of the AB1 junction) is part number 82113-0C040. Order that at the same time from your parts dealer. And if you need the actual sensor as well, then I'd recommend talking to the parts place to make sure you get the exact one for your VIN number (it looks like there might be a couple of different part numbers).

And Jessi ( @Jmorales73801 ) I don't know the specific details of what you are looking at, but the process should be pretty much the same based on the fact you were talking about front right sensor in a 2018 Tundra. Just depends on if you have the short wiring harness (AB1 to B1) or if you are also looking at having to repair/rebuild the wiring at the AB1 junction.
