Wife's 2008 Sequoia 5.7L had a no crank few days ago early in the morning. Truck has 286K miles. I replaced the starter at 215k and alternator at 225k. Battery is 2 years old.
Later that day it started right up for me but dash was lit up good. P0335 P0338. Crankshaft position sensor. Called the dealer none in stock. Grabbed an aftermarket that looked a little shorter than the original and installed. Truck just cranked but wouldn't start. I can hear fuel pump cycling and don't see any wire damage from rodents.
Found the correct replacement aftermarket sensor and installed it that night but still just cranks.. no start. Installed original back and same thing.
I have 5V at the connector for the sensor. And I double checked to make sure that the sensor is installed correctly and flush with the housing. I put the battery on a charger and still no start.
    Any ideas?

What’s the voltage at the battery?

I think you should focus on seeing if it's getting fire to the plugs.

I stick to Toyota OEM or Denso for electrical sensors in our Trucks. Is it still throwing any codes? Also inspect the wiring all the way back to the ECM for rodent damage or pinches

Still thinking it has to be something with the crankshaft position sensor. Does that the ECU need to relearn the new sensor? Didn't think toyotas need to.

Replaced the battery and still no start.
Pull quick connect on fuel rail and she's pumping strong.
Has to be camshaft sensor. Banging my head against the wall. :)
Pouring rain here today.. tomorrow I will check the connector again for sensor. I can't imagine it would be anything else.
    Thanks for the suggestions!

Not getting fire is most likely your problem. If it helps, click on forums, scroll down to tundra garage heading, scroll down to electrical subheading, click it. Wiring diagrams are right there at the top. Sort and find your version. Trace ignition wiring and Check for continuity and voltages. Something is not getting fire to the plugs. If you want to see it, pull out 1 wire, attach to an extra plug, ground the tip or threads on somewhere that makes a good ground and turn it over. If it has fire you will see sparks between the electrode and the tip (across the gap) as the engine spins. If it does have fire(doubtful), maybe you got bad gas??? It's possible too. There is likely a YouTube video on checking your crankshaft sensor as well. Good luck! Whatever you do figure out, post it for the next person to reference. Thanks!

Try your spare key. Unlikely but a thought. Also could disconnect battery for 30min. I still would get a Toyota sensor not that aftermarket stuff

Does the security light on the dash go out when the turn the key to on? If it stays blinking or illuminated security system is not recognizing the key and would let it start.

Worth the 30 seconds to verify

I ordered the Toyota sensor, picking it up in the morning. I read voltage again today and I'm getting 5V at the sensor on the + - sides and 5V on the Signal and - Side.
I tried to trace the wire but it goes up into a larger loom then off to the fire wall. The ECM harness seems like a pain to dig into. If the OEM sensor doesn't do it then that's next step. I am not getting spark.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

What about ignition fuses/relays? I haven't worked on a Yota system much yet, so I don't know the exact sequence of how it all ties together, but I know it's there and could be your problem.

SOLVED: Picked up an OE sensor this morning. Installed still no start. Removed O ring and hand tightened started right up. Pulled senor put O ring back oiled it up good and reinstalled no start.. Loosed it and worked back and forth a few times then replaced bolt and tightened as someone cranked spun a bit then started up. Stopped tightened the bolt as soon as she started (a bit over hand tightened). Runs great. That sensor is very sensitive to how much torque you apply. The gap distance is very important. Thanks for all of the suggestions!

Glad you got it going. Distance is certainly critical due to it being a proximity type sensor. Maybe I will pick one up and keep it under the backseat so I can eliminate the whole possibility of being stranded over this issue in the future. Will be awhile, but it will likely go at some point.
