Hey guys, still kinda new to this 2020 SR5 crewmax tundra, i've only had it for 3 weeks after all. Not new to modding vehicles though. I'm a DIY by heart. I've already done a few things to the truck in those 3 weeks. ESP storage, TRD catback exhaust, TRD rear sway bar, tonneua cover, bed rails, removed and painted emblems, etc.

I'm ready to move on to the hood bulge and the grill surround and I have a few questions.

I was going to just get them painted locally but it looks like the price would be a wash if i were to buy them from @Roman.

Hoodbulge - can get this pretty easily colormatched since they keep attitude black in stock at cool springs- no questions there

Grill with surround- i'm not sure what to get here or what options I have here. I know cool springs keeps the Attitude black in stock for the TRD pro grill. I've gone through several threads and it looks like i will need to relocated my cruise control radar? What do I need here to get this swap done and retain the sensor?

    Will this work? https://www.ajtdesign-llc.com/online-store/TSS-Relocation-Bracket-10052B-p194252238

Do i need this specifically?? https://parts.toyotaofcoolsprings.c...trd-pro-grille-sensor-cover-5314134010?c=az0x (285$ for this is a little steep!)

@Roman is there a replacement SR5 grill color matched for my truck if I don't wanna go with the TRD Pro grill route? If so, does it come with the emblem and would all that needs to be done is move the Radar sensor to the new emblem?

    Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks!

If you get the 2019+ pro grill you do not need an after market relocation kit. The new grille IS what relocates it. The aftermarket relocation kits would be for something like the pre-2019 Pro grille that doesn't have a spot for the sensor because TSS wasn't added to the Tundra on those model years.
You would need to get the sensor cover, though. Some have had good luck with aftermarket covers, while others have not. Kind of a gamble there.

Have you read the first post on Roman's thread? https://www.tundras.com/threads/ultimate-oem-toyota-parts-thread.10707/ If should have all your OEM grille options covered fairly well.

gotcha! What about just a regular SR5 grill color matched? I seen one in that post but i'm not sure if it's specifically for a 2018 only or it would work for a 2020 with the sensor? Sorry, i'm not sure if that emblem can hold a sensor or not?

Technically, all SR5 grilles are chrome. The TRD Sport would be the option that has color matching and the same look as the SR5. All 2018+ Tundras have the sensor, so no aftermarket brackets needed. There are some finer points to the emblems and what grilles they fit, though. Roman has a link to that info in his ultimate OEM Thread as well.

Some (including me) prefer the look of the 2014-17 pro grill. I got the color matched surround and bulge. The AJT relocation bracket did not work for me......i kept getting an error message and malfunctioning of the pre collision system. I went with the Jomax bracket and haven't had a problem since. The Pro 2018+ grill doesn't come color matched and you will have to get it painted separately as far as i know. Also, the sensor garnish is close to $300........those two issues made my decision much easier.

The 2018+ Pro Grilles are color matched. Check Roman's thread. He has separate links for each color.

I thought only a couple colors were available for color matched? I couldn't get cement unless I got it painted at a body shop.......or so I thought

I'd love to have that 2014-17 pro grill but it does not come in attitude black unfortunately. It sounds like my only option is the 2019+ plus pro grill and to buy the cover garnish.

Unless I can get an answer fro @Roman about a color matched SR5 grill that can be bought.

The reason the 2018+ Pro Grille doesn't come in Cement is because Cement was a Pro exclusive color before 2018. Same goes for Inferno. 2018+ Grilles are only available color matched in the colors that they were produced in to start with. Black, White, and any pro exclusive colors that have been featured since 2019 (there was no pro in 2018).

That's strange that they sell the hood bulge in the attitude black but not the surround. Still might be cheaper to buy the 2014-17 grill and get it painted by a body shop and not have to spend the $300 on the garnish for the 2018+ pro grills....

The bulge hasn't changed since 2014, so it is not unusual for it to be offered in all colors that any trim could have a color match grille from the factory. The Grilles/surrounds have some finer points because certain colors were only offered in certain years or trims. I am pretty sure they had black for the 2014-2017s, but I might be wrong.

I see now. It looks like they had the Onyx black for Pros in 2014-2017, and then the 2019+ they converted to Midnight/Attitude black. That is why the two are only available for the separate grille types. The hood bulges can be used on any year 2014-2021, so they are not separated by years in Roman's thread.

we know...i'm not sure what it is you're asking here? We know the 14-17 TRD pro grill does not come in attitude black. We know that the bulge comes in attitude black..that's all stated up there. The 2018+ pro grill comes in attitude black with a sensor relocate + sensor cover garnish.

I'm asking a very specific question at this point that i have not seen an answer to.....

"is there a replacement SR5 grill color matched for my truck if I don't wanna go with the TRD Pro grill route? If so, does it come with the emblem and would all that needs to be done is move the Radar sensor to the new emblem?"

That is in his post. Technically, all SR5 grilles are chrome. The color matched equivalent is the TRD Sport grille. That's the one I got for my truck because I don't care for the 2019+ Pro grilles. None of the grilles come with emblems, but you should be able to reuse yours. You will need the push nuts because to get the emblem off your current grille you will have to cut the push nuts off of it. Then use new ones to attach it to the new grille. You should confirm that your emblem will work with Roman. Pic below is from his thread.

All SR5 grilles are chrome. You will need either the TRD Sport or the Platinum grille. Also, pay close attention to the emblem thread I created and linked to in the Ultimate thread. You will need visual verification of your 2020 model's emblem before ordering to make sure you get a match.

What do these look like? The website just have generic pictures. I just wanna verify there's no chrome on these and also what style they are. Sorry for the ignorance!

TRD Sport or the Platinum grille

I'm not certain as I've not looked at a Platinum before. I think, could totally be wrong, that the honeycomb in the middle might be a little different color. I have a sport grille on mine, and the honeycomb is a grey color, and the platinum looks like it might be darker. Maybe even black.

@2020Platinum You had a platinum grilled. Am I correct in thinking the honeycomb was darker that what comes on the sport?

Well, there you have it. Can't say I'm surprised. They have two part numbers for the left and right door "Tundra" badges, but they are identical.

Sorry guys!...was at work and just seeing this, yea for some reason I’ve heard people say the sport and platinum are different colors, but I’ve never been able to see the difference...I think sometimes it’s just the angle or lighting of the pics, but when I was shopping at my local dealer before buying the Platinum, they looked identical in person (they had a couple sports and my platinum on the lot)

I see an obvious difference. Mine is the sport grille and the honeycomb is charcoal in color. A couple of months back or so, August-ish, I was on the lot of my local dealer that had a platinum. I drove up right next to it and it clearly is very much black to my charcoal. I did not get a picture though but that is my story that I am sticking to!

Hmm that’s interesting, I wonder if the year makes a difference???...just thinking out loud, I couldn’t see a difference in person and if you look at Romans pics they look identical as well...who knows, Toyota has done stranger things
