My mom called me in a panic, she was trying to wash the bugs off the front of my dad’s car and ended up using a semi-abrasive dish pad (in her words, “I was using my fingernails to scratch off the bugs, but they just weren’t coming off fast enough!”).

The scratches aren’t deep, from what she told me they feel very superficial. Anybody have a recommendation for the best way to buff this out?

Has anyone used the Meguiar’s quick scratch eraser kit? Recommended or stay away from it? Thanks in advance for your help.

I haven’t used the entire kit, but Scratch X is very effective on light scratches. Definitely a good place to start.

Guessing she’s trying to fix it before he sees it?

Yeah, she doesn’t want him to notice. Knowing my dad, he probably won’t see it for a while.

Scratch X can be bought at Walmart or an auto parts store. You can probably make it look a lot less noticeable by hand pretty quickly. Though not ideal, I’ve actually made some real improvement just using it with some microfiber towels really quick.

By the way, tell her next time to just use some Bounce sheets and water. Works wonders for bug removal.
