My vehicle is a 2002 Toyota Sequoia SR5 RWD 180k:

So, I screwed up big time. I accidentally left the battery connected while cleaning my electrical connections. I loosened the terminal, got a phone call, then proceeded to spray.. Dooooh! I used name brand electrical contact cleaner to spray most of the connections in the engine bay, and the ecu connections behind glovebox. I even removed the ecu and sprayed the board. I checked that all connections were solid, then I tried to start.. Zero ignition. There is a loud clunk when i turn the key to the "on" position. I do not have to turn the key all the way to start to get the clunk noise. Doing some research I checked on all starter and ignition fuses and all were good. I check the Starter relay and it not holding a constant current. I placed a jump wire into the space where the starter relay goes and I got ignition! So I went to the junk yard a plucked 4 of the same relays from various Toyotas on the yard. There were no Sequoias or Tundras but the relays are still the same codes. I tested 2 of the relays and they hold proper resistance. After I got home and tried the new relays the same problem remains. No ignition and a single clunk. I am out of ideas from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So you hear this clunk when you turn the key to the run pos?

Sounds like you need to find out where this clunk noise is coming from. Is it the relay?

Did you tighten everything back up?

When you jump the relay the starter functions?

I hear and feel this clunk when the key is turned to "ON" position. The position right before start. I haven't had the chance to get under the hood while someone else turns the key. From inside the cab, it sounds like its more toward the passenger side of the engine bay. I triple checked all connection. I can get the starter to function by jumping the relay. The engine will turn over but not start when jumping the relay.
How does the immobilizer work? Would i get zero ignition? Or would the motor turn over but not start?

I got under the hood today, the clunking noise is coming from the ABS/VSC control unit box. I also discovered another issue and possible cause to my starting problem. When I have the key turned to ON I can hear a ticking from the fuse box. The EFI relay is ticking rapidly. I turn the key off then on and it stops. The sounds is not always there, it comes and goes. Tomorrow I will go back to the junk yard and pluck a couple EFI relays and see what happens.

I know I'm bringing up a dead post but hoping that you figured it out I am having the same problem. Though I didn't spray any thing.
