Today I received the gun safe for the center console, and in all excitement I didn’t even think in order to fit it in, I need to take out the rails first. Anyone knows the fastest way of taking the riveted rails out?

    Thanks

I’m looking for the exact same answer to the exact same question

I’m thinking that drilling out the rivets is probably best but would love to hear from someone who has actually done it. I was shocked this question hadn’t already come up and even more surprised there weren’t any YouTube videos.

Well, after drilling the first hole, the rivet started turning with the bit, so I just used the chisel, and chiseled the $#!t out of them.image.jpgimage.jpg

    Hey, it’s in!

I drilled them out and if they spun I knocked them off with a screwdriver. They didn't spin until almost cut so this worked well.

Mystery solved...I just drilled them and them popped them out with a screwdriver and a hammer. Thanks everyone for the suggestions

I have the same exact console safe and mine just dropped in. Didnt have to undo anything but the bottom bolts that anchor it in. You do have to wiggle it in to place a little but you dont have to undo those rails

These rails were used for the tray organizer, and you definitely need to take them out to be able to drop the console safe in.

Are those rails standard on all trims? I don’t feel like I have those in mine..

I don’t think so, previous owner had it installed when he bought the truck.
