First question I would have is have you turned the bolt so that the nut is on the outside of the shackle? This usually fixes this issue.

Try dropping the spare a tiny bit, pushing it a little forward and centering it at the same time. I was having same issue after putting on coach builder shackles. Clears fine now.

I've done about 5 times in the last 2 weeks and it will shift over after a day of driving I've held it where it needs to be and my son will tighten until crank stops and will shift to the drivers side a day later

What about going to your local hardware store and get like a 3 inch hose and cut a section that you need and zip tie to the side of the shackle, so that it doesn't rub on the tire, nobody's going to see this anyways

Those shackles are too big to fit an oversize spare under the truck.

Gotta weigh the options for your spare though. Cost of parts to mount the spare in the bed or get different shackles that aren't so big. I have MCM shackles with my Deaver leafs and can fit 295x70x18 STT Pro's.

    Ricardo,
This is exactly what I’m running. 275/70-r18 with 2”CB shackles. My full size spare touches but it’s not being damaged. I’m not sure why you have the problem you do, but I believe you. Have you tried bending or removing the 2 little locating pieces that stick down? Lots of guys here are packing 35’ spares in this place by the removal of the locator spurs.
The shackles are definitely NOT too big for this size tire.

My thinking is that if it is touching or rubbing then the shackles wont have a good movement?

You could detach the bed, raise it up, relocate the spare tire hanger slightly, reattach the bed.
Lot of work, but if the carrier is off center slightly....
Hose seems a lot less work though. :)

EDIT- OH! lower the tire completely & rewind it so the wire ends up looped to the other end when fully up.
If the wire is hanging off the reel from the left end of the reel, force it to end up at the right end of the reel. That might be just the little bit of difference.

Maybe since you already removed the two pieces that hold it in place put another piece of metal towards the rear bumper that will hold the tire further up so it doesn’t shift. I didn’t know it would shift I’ve heard of people doing what you did and they never reported any problems.

Looks like I’m gonna run into this exact problem when I get my 33 inch spare. I’m thinking of coming up with something that will push the tire towards the front of the truck. Basically a shim between the bumper and the spare tire.
