So, is there any way to change the home screen when I start the vehicle. Right now it defaults to the purple "subscribe to navigation" screen and I have to change it to Android auto.
I honestly wouldn't mind if it was any screen other than an advertisement, but I find it annoying.
I even tried to set up the navigation, figuring I would at least get a trial or something but it just tells me to download the app, which I already have. The navigation shows up on the app but not on the Tundra's screen.
I have no use for a navigation subscription and it kind of pisses me off that's the first thing I have to see when I start my truck.

My nav advert only stays up until my CarPlay connects. Once CarPlay connects, it automatically switches over the last CarPlay app I was using. The Nav advert is only on the screen for maybe 5 seconds.

Is Android Auto different in that it doesn't automatically pull up for you?

Side note: I do agree it's lame that the advert pops up. There should be a setting to disable the Toyota navigation if you don't subscribe. I recall there's a setting to allow you to remove SiriusXM from the interface if you don't subscribe. The nav should be the same way IMO.

Unfortunately, I think as we continue to subscribe into the connectivity and convenience "needs" within our lives we are going to see this occurring across more and more aspects of our lives. Convenience is nice, but there is always a "price" involved. I'm sure my '21 is not as electronically advanced as your '22, but there are huge differences between it and my '08, and it's not always for the better.

I read an article about a month ago stating that BMW was moving toward a monthly subscription to access their seat heater function. The sales pitch was that it saves money for those that don't need it or only need it a few months out of the year...

As others have stated, hopefully you can find a setting within user or dealer programming to eliminate it!

    Good luck!

Yeah, it stays on the Navigation subscription screen until I manually change it to Android auto. The fact that you can't customize the start up screen is ridiculous.

When I start my truck, it automatically kicks over to android auto. I don't recall setting it up to do that, so I can't say for sure if it is anything different that I did.

Hmmm. Maybe I have a bug. Like I said, for some reason my Toyota app wouldn't let me purchase navigation even if I wanted to. It's not listed under my trial subscriptions or under available subscriptions.
Although the map does pop up on the app, just not on the trucks screen.
Did you guys get a trial subscription for navigation?

    None, yet
I did not get a trial and am suffering the same as you. What's more, on our RAV4, Apple Carplay has a nice split screen view between Spotify and the map. I can't find a similar view on my Tundra.

Mine now switches over about 30% of the time. It defaults to Google maps with a small strip of my selected audio on the bottom.
    Still mostly navigation advertising though.

Mine defaults to the navigation subscription page as well and have to switch it. I find having a billboard shoved in my face when I start up a vehicle I paid over $50k for fucking enraging.

I feel like android auto paired with the new tundra definitely isn't ready for primetime.
Its definitely a glitch, I can see it try to switch from navigation ad to android, it kind of flashes, but it just doesn't make the transition most of the time.
Hopefully it will get cleaned up through updates.
