Was watching a review video on Tundras and saw it mentioned that, somewhere, you can set the system to automagically turn on the camera (front or rear) when you drop to lower than 5 MPH.
This would help greatly w parking and saves me having to figure out how to turn it on manually.

Anyone know how to set that up?

    Really??!?? Had no idea!
    ....

What I was asking for was a means to have said front camera automagically engage onscreen when I slow to park.

    Thanks so much.

you have a switch second from the left on the lower side of the switches in the center (below the infotainment screen). that brings up the cameras and you can choose various ones you wish to see. to the lower right you will see an "AUTO" selection. Click it until you see the blue light under it (on the screen). Now you will have the front camera automatically turn on when you reach below 5 mph

This guy works thru your question and eventually answers it. The quick answer is you need to turn the cameras on "Auto". That way they will automatically turn on at low speed in both Drive and Reverse.

Got addressed before I saw this. I like it on most of the time unless I've got a sports game on.

... and if the auto camera feature is on while you're sitting at a traffic light, etc. and you want to turn it off temporarily, you can hit the pano camera button and get back to your screen.

Yes, they MAY have a front camera. It depends on the trim level/options on your particular truck.

I think it's for the PVM package.

The camera looks like every other camera on the truck and is in the middle of the grill under the Toyota logo.

    Lots of stuff!
@Eurodriver The cameras are a great feature. I have the camera package (5 cameras) that comes with the Canadian TRD Off Road package. I have 1 camera in the grille, cameras in both side mirrors, one camera above the bed in the third brake light area and one in tailgate handle.

Whenever I am close to something (usually while parking) the camera views will pop up on the big screen and the sensors will go off if I am close to something. The truck sits pretty tall making it hard to see around the truck so these have been great.

I believe the auto feature is only on the tundras that have the full 5 camera system as it turns on the front camera when below 5mph.

New Tundra owner here and forgive me in my ignorance with this matter. I believe I have the PVM option and have all 5 cameras but I cannot select the camera views, they are all greyed out. Any ideas?

P, N, or D all camera views buttons are greyed out when I press the View lever.

The front camera on my 1794 reads the speed limit signs and displays that info on the HUD and dash display.

Press the view button under the Nav and Volume Knob...... click it to Auto. Note: If your in the city using your Nav this is a pain in the ass cause right when the traffic gets slow, the cameras turn on and you loose your Nav screen

I would take it In, there is a chance they need to program your headunit to read the cameras or they are disconnected somewhere.

There is actually a camera in the grille that displays on your screen and a camera behind the rearview mirror that reads the upcoming signs as well as controls your automatic high beams If you have that option.

The dealer fixed my camera issue. They said the panoramic camera system was not registered or programmed so they did that and the cameras are now working. Sounds like the factory dropped the ball, makes me wonder what else the "forgot" to do.

actually thats part of PDI by the dealer, not the factory if i remember correctly. the dealer has a long list of PDI they do before they either give it to the customer or before they put it on the lot.

some of the things that need to be done

    1. compass (gps)
    2. seats
    3. mirrors
    4. camera's
    5. sensors
    6. headlights (if auto leveling)
    7. tire sensors (tpms)
    8. radio (hybrid radio feature to off, wifi off initially)
    9. front license plate mount (if state required)

thats all i can think of right off the bat

car care nut has a video about pdi that toyota requires dealer to perform
