I just bought a 2010 Toyota Tundra. 95k miles and it was working well, haven’t even put 10 miles on it and the thing won’t start! No lights or nothing. Took it to the mechanic and the battery is practically brand new. I did lift the shift lever just a touch and then the truck started. Now it won’t. I am getting frustrated. So please help me!

I would take a look at the harness to the shifter, ensure its all the way in... You stated you raised the shifter may cause issues with grounding as P and N require grounding so it can trigger the starter and allowing you to turn on the truck. If the shifter can't ground then you wont be able to turn on the truck since it thinks its in R, D, S. At least that's my understanding on the shifter and you claiming on raising it....

I bought it private sale from a guy. The shifter was just a tap. Never anything to push it into another gear

I had a land cruiser that would do this , smack the shifter and it would start. This was caused by the nss. To not have to smack the shifter you had to put it into park firmly.
