My head is ready to explode. Need some help with a non-JBL install

Hey all...I printed out all my wiring diagrams this morning and I’m getting ready to head out to the garage but I am having some trouble making some connections. Hopefully you guys can lead me in the right direction. It’s been about 25 years since I did this type of install.
Here is what I got:
AutoHouse 4438 Harness/JI44 & JI45
Kicker KXA800.5 with Hi or Lo level signals + (2) sets of KISL RCA converters for high level signal.

My question is, the JI44 has the front door signal but then the JI45 has the same plus the rears. Am I not to use the front signals off of the JI44’s?

My next question is the KISL is the LOC that connects the speaker wire to the amp. The JI45 has Front and Rears for a total of 12 total wires to connect but the amp only has the 2 sets of RCA’s for the KISL’s to connect to. This is what is blowing my mind. Lol

Lastly..how do I get a signal to the sub? Kicker told me that the amp will automatically send a signal to the sub without having to plug anything into the sub RCA inputs on the amp but that doesn’t make sense to me.

Okay that’s it...Thank you for all the help in advance. I thought that I could pull this off on my only day off this week but it’s proving to be a bit of a challenge to me.

Thanks for the link. I haven’t seen that one yet. The upgrade came to a halt yesterday when I realized I only ordered one Metra adapter for the front speakers. I thought they came in sets of 2. Amazon is saying June 2 for delivery so I’m gonna have to move on to the amp install and running the power cable thru the firewall.

hopefully the new components liven up a bit when they get amplified because right now they are very underwhelming. I only have the driver side door hooked up at the moment so maybe it will sound better when I get the passenger side installed.

 

They didn't come in a set? Man, thats gotta be annoying. The speakers, once you do get to install them it will be without a doubt an improvement.

For the power wire and the fire wall, there's a rubber boot, or plug, in the upper left floor board on the driver's side.

 

Yeah they don’t come as a pair. The infinity ref6530’s are pretty power hungry so I’m gonna have to put the amp in to really see what they sound like. I have the driver side in and I can barely hear anything from the tweeter. Minimum wattage it 45w on them so the factory amp can’t push em at all. We’ll see when the other spacer comes in and I find the time to put the amp in. Thanks for the tips on running the power wire. Hopefully it will go without issue.

 

Hoping you could give me some help on a question I have. Decided to sit down and start prepping the harnesses for install.

In the manual for the amp there is a four channel setup with sub and a bridged version. Since the JI44 harness only has accommodations for the Front speakers, I’m guessing that I should use bridged mode? Just not sure how the rear speakers will get power. Does the HU power the rear speakers? Thanks for your help. That link you attached helped big time in figuring out a lot of stuff so far.

 

Did you figure it out? If it was me I would just run new speaker wire, and forgo the harnesses. Then that setup would work for fronts and rears.

 

Yes. I did end up figuring it out. I was just confused about the input and output till I found a post explaining it. Once I found that, it all came together. Now I’m in the process of trying to tune the system and that’s a bit of a process.

Thanks Twinky. I appreciate it! I spent a couple of hours in the garage tonite tuning it and I realized that I need to get some rear speakers. The stock ones are ok at best. I’m gonna drive it for a day or 2 and see what I think. I’m not 100% sure of my sub selection but I’m gonna see if it sounds a bit better after the break in period. If not I’m just gonna spend the $$$ on a JL 10” and take the underneath storage out for the install.

 

It's not uncommon to just unhook the tears and not worry about them. Though, if you are going to have passengers in the back then nevermind.

I haven't ran rear speakers in any of my last three rides. Getting good staging upfront is much easier without them. But if you have a decent processor they can be worked in pretty well.

Just a thought. If you don't have rear passengers, it might work out for you.

 

I got some cheap Kickers to throw in the rears to see what they sound like. Maybe I’ll knock the gain down on them just to get some rear fill.
I’ll try disconnecting them as well and if I like what I hear, maybe I’ll bridge the fronts to get some more power up front. I’m having a hell of a time tuning the fronts to get a common ground across all the different types of genres of music I listen to. I’m also going to have to pull the front doors and put some sound deadening in there. The rattles are a bit annoying.
