Hi gang, I noticed something strange.

When light acceleration, I hear some muffled metallic ringing. T doesn't happen during cruise, but only during light acceleration. Any ideas what might be on the way to fubar?

No dash lights and truck rides fine for now. Got home without problems. Just metallic noise.

I’m not sure whether the 4.6 has the intake grid, but mine was causing a whistle on moderate acceleration when I had a K&N filter in. I swore it was electronic noise from the speakers as it sounded just like that. It ended up being air over that screen/grid on the intake.

One of the exhaust shields underneath?

No idea, it started like today. Or yesterday. I just noticed it today on way home. It was quiet in the cabin as I was concentrating on mpgs.

    Solved. I guess I'm a clown.

Today, it started ringing a little louder and didn't sound like engine or truck anymore. When I got to work, I opened the toolbox and found the culprit. Apparently, it was ringing during acceleration because it Qasim being pulled back and tingling on the metal holes away, acting like a bell housing.

Problem solved. I think. Unless I go home today and it's something else and still making noise.

That’s crazy! I actually had the exact same thing happen to me with my Lennox electricians holesaw kit packed in with all my other tools in the cab about a year ago. I kept hearing a harmonic ringing at certain speed with my old feathered out Goodyear Duratracks. Was like WTF!

Did you keep the K&N filter? I changed the intake mesh on mine and it got rid of the whistle, but now I'm thinking of putting the K&N filter back.

I did not. I bought the truck with it, but not a K&N fan.
