Just figured out why my headlights seemed to be aimed low. I found the headlight elevation adjustment control. Can anyone tell me the purpose of this? Other than if I lift the truck? Or maybe towing a heavy tongue weight trailer

You’re not getting the whole answer.

It also allows your truck to look up and down.
They are still working on a side to side function.

    ...and bifocals for older trucks.

New to me 2017 truck. I found it by mistake. Was sitting in the driveway thinking I was adjusting the dash brightness. I've driven trucks since 1983 and never had the need to adjust my headlights vertically. My first truck was a 53 ford flathead V8 they didnt have that option

Its a lot of fun when you have a jackass cut you off and you can adjust your lights to shine perfectly into their mirrors....so I have heard

We tow quite a ways every year for vacation. After loading up the bed with gear and hooking the boat on the back, lowering the headlights back down where they were just makes sense to me.

I've since kept them in the highest position. Will see if I get flashed. My previous tacoma ( same year and SR5) seemed to have better high beams.

My BMW automatically adjusted the headlights up and down depending on how level the car was and when going around corners would adjust them left or right as needed. I can only guess what it would cost to repair if ever necessary.

It took me a while to figure it out too... going to upgrade the stock Halogen bulbs.

my 2012 Lexus RX350 points the headlights left or right based on the steering wheel position - that freaked me out at first!

I had one headlight go out and BMW wanted $400 for the job. Turned out the bulb was $30 or $40. I decided to try it myself. I had to removed the tire, fender lining, and bumper to get to it. Replaced the bulb and it worked. Put everything back together and the other bulb went out so I have to do the same thing to the other side.

I see a LOT of loaded pickups that don’t have easily adjusted headlights...or they don’t care.
Annoying as hell, especially on long drives when patience is wearing thin.
