So recently my wife found a mouse in our tundra cab. We set traps, placed repellent, and haven't seen any since. I was doing some maintenance and found a nest under the engine cover.. where do you think this came from?

    Wow!

I wonder if the vermin imported it?

That seems a lot of insulation material to not be noticed from your truck.

Anything near where it's parked have that color of material?

I too am involved with an ongoing battle with mice and tree rats .

I haven't found anywhere other than the truck.. but I also don't know where in the truck this stuff would be. I've tried googling "blue tundra insulation" but didn't see anything that looked like it.

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
If it really is a mouse or rat, this will work: https://mouseblocker.com/

But if its a squirrel, I'd put poison around the tires. Really don't want them to chew thru crankshaft position sensor wires. Luck.

Kinda looks like material from a moving blanket/furniture pad.

...Check/replace your cabin air filter as well. Rodents seem to like it in there

Agreed but I don't have any moving blankets laying around or furniture. So frustrating. Poop in the cabin filter, no sign inside the cab.

I see many who screen off the intakes at the base of the windscreen. Helps prevent them from getting into the cabin filter and air ducts anyway.

Beware another member here nearly died from parasite infection/infestation inside his body caused by mice in the hvac system in his truck. Might be time for a comprehensive claim to have it all removed and sanitized.

No need to attach, just find pockets and wedge em in where there's not moving parts or extreme heat. Basically the perimeter Common sense stuff.

It’s like a grayish green foam - not what’s pictured.

I've had squirrels which were stripping away my firewall insulation. I caught several of them with rat traps behind the front tires using peanut butter bait. More recently I've had mice or rats chewing off the insulation on the intake manifold (grayish-green foam like AZBH mentioned above). Spraying some strong peppermint/eucalyptus/rosemary essential oils didn't do much and snap and glue traps didn't catch them, so I tried an ultrasonic deterrent. That seems to be doing the trick (for the past couple of months, at least).
I've also done the screening off of the cab ingress as detailed here, although I've not ever had any intrusion into the cab.

I dont think I have a claim at this point.. there isn't any "damage" that I've seen, just a ball of fuzz.

They got inside through your HVAC. Take out the cabin filter and you will likely find clear evidence that your HVAC system is full of crap that could kill you. There is nothing to keep them out unless you or someone else screened the fresh air intake under the windshield wiper cowling. Sorry to ruin your day!

That ball of fuzz was in my engine bay. There was a small piece of lint and 2-3 mouse pellets in my cabin air filter which I replaced. Are you suggesting I call my insurance and file a claim based on that? Is that even possible?

Not washing your hands after using public restroom is more of a risk.

    Let's not be so dramatic.

Everyone has exposure to, let's say, unsavory materials.

We were not designed to live in a bubble.

Get exposed, get sick, recover, be stronger than before.

I know my insurance company would laugh at me if I told them I wanted my dash disassembled, disinfected because I found some mouse residue in my truck or it's cabin filter.

Anybody can laugh, but it isn't so funny when you or your passengers become hospitalized and almost dead. I encourage you to read the thread attached to the second link, pretty serious shit!

Not trying to create drama, just explaining and proving the severity of the situation. If you want to get sick and possibly die from parasites, be my guest!

I work in medicine. I read the story. A guy had weird symptoms that noone could explain until the naturopath told him he had "bugs" and sold him some supplements. He then attributes this all to mice in his car... Hardly something I'm going to lose sleep over. You probably have mice in your house right now.

I appreciate your concern. Mice do carry disease and should be removed/cleaned up after when found. That said.. I doubt my insurance company would spring for an expensive cleaning job without evidence of damage and I certainly don't want to spend thousands for my dealer to disassemble the truck.

Well.. I dont think it came from inside the truck. I searched my garage and struck out. Best guess is the neighbors lost part of a moving blanket. If I find a better answer I'll update!
