Morimoto XB LED Headlight issues - keep blowing 15A fuse

I purchased the Morimoto XB LED Headlights for my 2017 Platinum Crewmax 4x4 recently. I hooked them up, with all the connectors they sent. I hit the unlock button on the remote and immediately blew a 15A fuse. Am I supposed to use all the connectors they sent with the lights? I'm wondering if one of the connectors that seems to change a 3-wire plug to a 2-wire is the issue? I can't figure out why the fuse keeps blowing. Any ideas? Suggestions?

I would assume that the LED's draw far less amperage than the factory headlamps. If so, you must have a bare wire grounding out drawing too much amperage.

I'm not certain I have the connections correct. On my 17 Platinum Tundra, I had Halogen Headlights with the LED DRL strip on the bottom. With these Morimoto XB LED Headlights, do I need the fuse tap that was sent with the lights? After reading some other threads, I realize I do NOT need the 3-wire to 2-wire harness (which I think is for the signal). I actually had this connected as I thought I needed everything sent with the lights I ordered from @Headlight Revolution. I just need straightened out on which, if any, of those wire harness sent with the lights are needed for the 17 Platinum (10A fuse tap and the 3-wire to 2-wire). Wondering I that's what's blowing the fuse? I'll double check tomorrow and see if I have any bare wires grounding out.

You need to reach out to the vendor. This is an issue they are aware of. I am waiting for the new harness for mine as well. Started blowing the same fuse with too much draw out the blue. Anyway, they are aware of the issue and now have new harnesses. Hoping to put mine back in the truck this week. I pulled them out as soon as they started blowing the fuse.

FYI, this issue started after about 6-7 months of having the headlights. I assume it has something to do with the resisters being used in the harnesses as the new harness has a much larger inline resister. InkedHeadlight harness_LI.jpg

Caleb, is this going to be an issue where most of us will have to change out the harness or is this a rare issue for certain model years? I got my lights back in September so I don't remember what the resistor for the harness looks like.

Just a quick Update. If you have a 2018 or newer with these headlights DO NOT allow the dealer to do the Indicator recall. This consists of moving the the grounding pin (White/black wire) on the truck side (Park light) harness from the position 2 to position 3. If this recall is done it will blow the fuse for the park lights.

Hi. I just purchased a Morimoto XB headlights for a second gen Tundra about a month ago and the 3 amp fuse just blew today. I was wondering if this will keep happening or is there a solution for this? thanks!

I have blown two 3 amp fuses on my 2nd gen XBs. The second fuse melted through the fuse body. On my third fuse now. 4 days in and still working. Fingers crossed. Installed my XBs about two weeks ago.

Something is odd about this, you shouldn't blow any fuses at all so there's something underlying here... can you send us an email describing your issue? We'd be happy to help figure it out!

Just an update. I emailed Headlight Revolution as requested. Response was within a few hours. I’ve been advised to use a 5 amp fuse. Will do that. Very happy with HR customer support.

I have had no more issues with blown fuses. Still with a 3 amp. All is well. Love the headlights.

Hey guys - I'm having a similar issue here. 2017 with the LED strip DRL, Halogen headlight. I have everything connected, low beam, high beam, DRL, and marker all work. But when I flip the blinker, I blow the 15A fuse in the turn/harzard slot of the fuse box. @azimuth is this the same fuse you were blowing? Sounds like it may be different since you were blowing on the keypad entry?

My blown fuses are resolved. The very helpful representative at HR advised I use a 5 amp fuse. No more blown fuses. All is well with the world. I did get my Morimoto fogs in finally. Dude. Nice pair! lol

So you hooked up a 5 amp fuse instead of a 3 amp that came with the fuse tap harness from Morimoto and that fixed the issue, no more blown fuses? My 3 amp fuse Just blew.
