The more i read this forum the more i see people messing up something especially when they have played with an electrical component like the head unit. Today cars have way too many electronic components that are intertwined that the slightest change screws something up. It is my humble opinion that if you want to modify electronics or electrical you should let the Toyota experts do it. Anything else you stand a good chance to do it right without any repercussions. I don't mean to douse any ideas you may have but its just my two cents worth. An idea that may look like a money saver could very well wind up costing you thousands of dollars and countless headaches, you want to add a grip to the drivers side go for it thats a different story.

Look its just my opinion maybe its based on two factors, one i am slightly handicapped and therefore not terribly able to do a great deal, and two i am not the handiest person to start with.

 

Wait until you play around with a German.

 

I will say that BMW's get kind of a bad rap. I found the E46 I had easier to work on than expected. You just gotta get around their codes. Luckily I had some software and a cable that allowed me to do all of that.

 

Respectfully disagree. I’ve modded all lighting, installed new speakers all around, amp, sub, seat heaters, puddle lights, tuner- no problems. Just like anything else, educate yourself, take your time, do quality work and most importantly, if you don’t know what your doing don’t do it!
