So I have noticed something weird. I have a 19 Platinum and have 22,258 miles on it. Always do my own oil changes on all our vehicles. We drive a lot and go through a ton of oil. I always stick to name brand synthetic As in Mobil 1, Pennzoil, Valvoline, etc....

I am sort of an oil geek and follow a lot of postings on the large oil forum everyone frequents... I always get a kick out of the crazies over there talking about how much quieter or smoother there vehicles run on brand "x" or "Y". I think a lot of them are sort of crazy.......

I have 8 jugs of Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w-20 that I have been using. $22 at Walmart, after $12 rebate they are $10. I use Toyota OEM filter.

I changed the oil in my truck at 5k and noticed it was pretty loud. Took it to dealer for 10k service and the truck was quiet again and just attributed it to the oil thinning down. I changed the oil at 15k mikes using the Mobil 1. This time it was loud! Sounds like lifter valve train noise. Took it to dealer for 20k ToyotaCare and the truck is completely quiet with zero noise at all. You can really here the difference.

I called the dealer and asked what they use and of course they say Toyota Genuine Oil, which is made by Mobil 1.

I had the dealer take an oil sample and sent it into Blackstone. Came back 100% great. No fuel or coolant and wear looks perfect.

I have 3 jugs left and think I am going to use it in my wives Accord.

Where I work now we have 8 DMC 1500 Denali that the project manager and Superintendents drive. We were using an oil distributor that was Mobil so we're using Mobil 1 and Delo in all our equipment. The guys and mechanics were saying the same thing that the trucks were loud. We switched recently to a Shell distributor so we are having Rotella for all the equipment and now brining the new Shell Rotella Gas Truck formulation in quart cases. The mechanic said it has eliminated any of the valve train noise on the ones he has done services in so far. Seems to be a thicker 0w-20.

This is the first time I have had a vehicle that I can hear a difference in oil. I love Mobil 1 but just thought I would share my surprising experience.

Shell is the parent company of Pennzoil and Quaker State. I'm betting it'll be a top shelf oil.
