    Is this the normal skid plate for 2017 SR5 or am I missing a piece … was thinking it went back further but maybe not?

    It’s mostly just to protect the oil filter housing and fan/belt area from items being driven or thrown up into that part of the motor. Damage to one of those could disable the truck all together. Hitting the front differential could cause damage with a strong enough hit, but it won’t immobilize the truck.
