I have a pre-owned 2016 SR5 TRD and had the 15k oil change done at the Toyota Dealership. I've only put 3K miles on it since I bought it. After it was complete, the service person tells me the plate that covers the oil drain ( I think I know how to change the oil on a Tundra) is missing along with some clips and a 10mm bolt. Also Toyota has no record of the previous owner using the free oil changes. WTF! Anyone know what the hell he's talking about? Here is the pic. he took.

Looks like the skid plate is missing. Here is what mine looks like with the plate. The filter panel is off but you get the idea

I also have an SR5 w/o a skid plate. Maybe they only come standard in the higher trims?

The 1/4” aluminum skid does not come stock on the regular SR5 TRD.
It comes with a little thin steel plate that is called a skid but is actually just sort of a puddle splash guard. This does appear to be in place in the pictures

The engine and fuel tank skid plates are part of the TRD package.

If your's is the TRD then the previous owner likely did not replace the skid plate. A number of folks have replaced their skid plates with after market ones so you may be able to find a used one.

Anyone have a picture of the TRD off-road package skid plate?

I guess I'm back to my original question. What the hell is Toyota Service dude talking about missing my skid plate. The skid plate you posted, is in my original pic. I'm guessing the service guy was confused about the aftermarket TRD skid plate?

I went back and looked at your original post and I see that this is the back part of the skid plate. No clue as to what the service guy was talking about - the TRD and TRD Pro skid plates are very different. You may want to crawl under and make sure that all bolts are there (I think there are 3 in the back, 2 in the front, and 3 in the front that go through the plastic tabs from the bumper and through the skid plate).

looks normal to me. the factory steel one is prob better than the optional thin aluminum one.
also, many of us never brought our trucks back to the dealer after purchasing it. they can keep their 'free' oil changes, i'll take care of it...

I’m taking a guess here but you must not have ever seen the 1/4” aluminum skid from Toyota. The flimsy tin thing that Toyota calls a “skid” is effective only to deflect small road debris. The RCI aluminum skid is nearly identical to the Toyota aluminum skid, both have a removable access hatch to access the oil filter. You could probably get more protection from the RCI steel skid but at the expense of more weight and risk of rust.

    This is what you wrote.
There’s only one aluminum skid offering from Toyota and it’s not thin.
There’s also only one factory steel one which is the flimsy sheet metal piece in all of the above pictures.
Please clarify what I miss read.
