To anyone who has the 3” mbrp cat back exhaust and is tired of the drone around 1800 rpm like I was, I have your fix. I reached out to Keith at dirty deeds industries and they made me a Helmholtz resonator. It took a little modifying as I had to trim the flange down from 4.5” to 3 7/8” and it fit perfect where I mounted it. He typically welds the tube at an angle to the flange for other style exhausts like the one he makes, but it has to be welded at a straight 90 from the flange for the mbrp exhaust. I used some exhaust sealant as extra insurance even though Keith says you don’t have to. But it turned out great. Drone is completely gone. It does quiet down the exhaust, but still leaves a real nice tone. Follow all his other instructions like drilling a 2” hole and all (don’t be afraid, it’ll be fine) I even checked mine with some soapy water after and no leaks. I attached some pics of how mines mounted and it’s mounted at an angle like Keith says so moister will drain out of it. The hose you see is my extended diff breather line. It doesn’t touch the resonator. I know it looks like it does. And it sits about an inch to two inches below the bed. Extremely sturdy and doesn’t move. Don’t hesitate if you’re sick of the drone like I was. Don’t mind the messy excess sealant. No one will see it unless they crawl under the truck. Cheers!
