But the lowest dash light setting just isn't low enough for me and I need to do something.

Last night drove 90 minutes in rain late at night and found if I block the instrument panel my view of the road ahead improves dramatically.

I'm pretty certain most driver don't give this a second thought but I have found little tricks to keep my eyes adjusted to the dark and like to keep it that way.

Couple of thoughts: Dig into the illumination circuit and add resistance to lower every level. Change to color to red since red light is better for night vision or buy some sections of window tinting and apply that to the bezel surface.

Or just but on my big girl panties and grill me some venison.

I had this problem too. Then I read about the adjustment knob on the instrument cluster.... lh side. Definitely easy to miss. This fixed ot for me.

Mine still isn't low enough for me. Every other car I've owned allowed me to turn them down until they were almost out. You really don't need the panel lights to be that bright and the more light in your eyes the smaller your pupils will get. Did you know after being exposed to bright lights it can take around 30 minutes for your eyes to adjust back to your best night vision?

Folks have night vision problems after Lasik surgery. Eyes become too sensitive to light.

That's probably in the fine print they can't read before having the procedure.

I had red dash lights from the factory in my 2007 Tundra, You could NOT see the gauges in daylight as they were more recessed in the dash pods. Also had a 1963 Avanti that had factory red dash lights, could barely see in dusk/dawn ambient light. 34ford

I had Lasik wave front 16 years ago. Still have no sensitivity to light. The first 24 hours were somewhat iffy, but to be expected.

I always hit the Home button so when I am playing music it stays darker in the cab. I also have it set to red. Would like it darker but ....Toyota dose not see it the same as I do

I think this is what I'm going to do. Cut a piece of 1/8 lexan and apply different shades or layers of window tint film until I get the desired results. I do have some velcro dots that might work to hold it in place.

Being retired I don't often drive at night if I can avoid it. Past my bedtime too.:(

I have very sensitive eyes and find the same issue with my Optitron gauges. The stock gauges weren't as bad.
