Hey everyone. I've been working on my camera and mirror install. I had both hardware installed already and was finishing up the wiring I stall. After reading @shifty` help on wiring up the camera to a radio, I started the wiring today. I got the wire taps into the reverse light and the rear view mirror screen is wired into the fuse box and grounded. I wanted to check that everything works before zip tying the cable to the frame/taillight bundle and plugged everything in. Hooked the battery cable back up after finding a replacement bolt for the cable that broke whole tightening it up (wasn't much force). I have power to the mirror, I have power at the camera but I have no video on the screen. Plus, most of the time when I throw it in reverse, the green power light goes out on the screen.

I unhooked the wires to the top of the posi-tap to make sure I had a good connection and I have 12v a Ross it putting it in reverse. I checked voltage between the green wires up front and I get 12v across the trigger wires as well. So, I'm note sure why the screen is not coming on. Any ideas?

Did you ground the camera? On mine (not the same setup, mind you) I had to ground the camera to a grounding spot on the body. I used the same ground for the hitch pin. The back up bulb is not a ground.

I followed the same instructions that @shifty` posted earlier this week when he helped install @Dakillacore handle camera (same one I have). It tried using a longer jumper wire to test grounding to the frame and a couple other spots nearby and nothing changed.

Also not sure how well this works as a ground. If you remove that kick panel, there is a dedicated ground behind it. Just spitballing here.

Man, I'm a sloppy taper

EDIT: But the main reason I e-taped the wires is because the green and black leads of the Master Tailgater's harness are unusually thin (they were like 22-24awg or something) and I was worried about them getting snagged or snapped. And I went with e-tape vs. Tesa tape because Tesa tends to hold moisture/sand/dirt. 4th pic, there's a pocket/cubby back in that section, you'll see the black Master Tailgater's wire go in, then come back on the other side. I spooled up the excess wire they give you and slid the roll back up in that little side pocket after confirming nothing slides/jabs in there.

I like these Positaps too. I'd double check your taps. The tap into the white with black stripe wire may not be seated/tapped well.

The fact the power LED is going out on the rear view mirror is your #1 suspect here, and I think @The Black Mamba probably nailed it - you may not have a good ground or good power for the rear view mirror itself.

Okay. That sounds like a possible issue. I'll check it out tonight when my daughter gets back from painting her parking spot at school.

I did check continuity across those two by removing the wires to the camera and everything is good there.

I'll do as you suggest and remove the panel. Thanks
