I bought a used 2016 Tundra that only came with one key. I have techstream and attempted yesterday to add 2 more keys that I bought. It asks me to input the master key to be able to move forward and it gives me an error. So I'm thinking that the key I have was a replacement. Is there a way for me to erase the key I have and add it as the master? Is there an easy way to tell if the key I have is the master or not? I'm just not trying to spend $200 to take it to the dealership. Thank you

well if the truck came with 2, those were the master keys. if you have a 3rd key, then it was a slave and then you added 2 more keys for a total of 5. if I remember correctly, the truck will only learn 5 keys max and then you have to delete keys from the truck and the only way that I know of how to delete keys is that you have to have a full blown techstream in order to do that.

If the keys are already cut and only need to he programmed it should not be 200 dollars

Bout a bill. I work at the auction our key guy reprograms and cuts. I think 50 for key and 100 for reprogram. Maybe hundred bucks since you have yours keys already.

But if the tundra doesent start then you would have to tow it over might be another 100 to 150 depending how far so that they can reprogram. So maybe 200 said and done for all.
