So I dropped off my Tundra at the dealership for her last free oil change this morning. I live in a small town so i just rode my electric scooter to work. About 30 minutes after I get to work I get a call from the dealer ship, saying there is a massive gear oil leak that has managed to spray all over underneath the truck. I was surprised to say the least, seeing as how I didn't see any drip marks on my drive way. They say not to worry its all going to be covered under warranty and they will get me a rental car while its being fixed. Well the rental car company calls me saying they are completely out of cars until next week, again small town. I call the dealership back and they will try the other car rental company in town. While on the phone I ask them to send me pictures of the oil leak. a few minutes later I receive the pictures and I'm instantly relieved. I call them back and explain what they are seeing is not gear oil it's Fluid Film, LOL. After a few minutes back and forth explaining what fluid film is, they tell me, "yeah, it makes sense, we couldn't figure out how gear oil managed to make its way all the way up the shocks and springs". What gets me is that they had never heard of it, which is strange because they tried to sell it as a service when I first purchased the truck. I will say they went above and beyond to try and find me a rental, and they were courteous on dealing with me through out this ordeal, but I'm glad this was my last free oil change so I can go back to doing them myself.
