Manual tail gate lock for 2014 DC - Anything OEM?

Hey guys...I've searched thoroughly and feel like I may be missing the right search term, but all I can find are threads for power tailgate locks.

Ive got a 2014 DC, and the hole where the lock should be has a trim panel body fastener shoved through it to a washer on the other side.

Should this actually be a lock? I'd love to have the manual version for it keyed to my truck so I can keep my camper more secure, but all Ive seen on the OEM power locks and pop&lock kits.

Is there an OEM manual kit out there?

Anyone have an idea on this? I was able to find one thread that mentioned all trucks having a locking tailgate, but nothing to corroborate the info.

I imagine you’ll need to replace the entire assembly and then have the lock keyed to your set of keys, or you’ll have to get used to using two different keys, one for the doors and glove box, and a separate key for the tailgate.

I can only imagine someone did that because they managed to break the original locking mechanism, and they got the gate stuck in the locked position, hence the half-assed hack job you’re confronted with.

I would advise this: replace the assembly (even with a new key if needed). Then install the pop n lock assembly. You won’t have to worry about using a second key unless the PNL actuator suffers a failure, which I think is exceedingly rare.

 

Damn... There should be a lock in there... I've replaced my broken tailgate handle. and that part was the easiest to swap over. Manual locks wont really help since there is nothing to engage a lock.

I think these are the parts you're missing. There may be one more piece, but I don't have my truck right now to take a gander.

 

Looks to me like you're just missing the lock cylinder itself, you can see where it installs in your tailgate, and you have the little arm that the lock cylinder engages to lock the tailgate. found this with a quick Google search

There you go... Only missing the cylinder, make sure the locking arm is still good, from the picture it appears that it is..

I would just buy a pop and lock and install it.
It will lock and unlock your tailgate with your remote when you lock or unlock the doors..
You won't even need a key for it or have to get a stock lock rekeyed.
