Hey guys, I was the OP looking for a solution to the GDO problem with the always hot buttons on the mirror. Thanks to #dumbassdave I just did this and it's pretty easy. I moved this over to a new thread focusing on this simple fix.

I originally said I have 2014 Tundra Limited but it's a 2008. 2014 is my car. It was super easy once I figured out a way to get at the pins so I could track down the hot wires to see which was always hot and which was switched through the ignition.

Here are a couple pics to see what you need to do. In my case the blue wire was switched and the white wire was always hot. The black wire is just a jumper I added so nothing gets tugged apart. The second picture is to give you an idea of what needs taken apart to get at the wiring.

I was going to suggest it but didn't know if not having power on it all the time would cause it to loose it's memory.

Good job op. Which mirror do you have? I’m wondering what else the white wire was powering. I have gdo, compass and self dimming mirror in mine.

Like this. It has 5 buttons. 3 GDO buttons, a 2 letter compass and autodimming that can each be turned off. I think that covers it. But I don't really know the answer about the white wire. Maybe it is just for the GDO. I haven't even driven it yet but I'll respond back if I discover anything.

In hindsight I'm not sure it was necessary to take that upper console down. It was easy enough but I would try just taking the mirror off. I didn't really know how the wiring went together so I started with the console. If there is an advantage to lowering the console it would be that it might give you slightly length in the mirror harness.
