Magnaflow Exhaust

Installed it a couple of weeks ago. I like the way it looks but it's a little too loud at 1800-2000 RPM while driving. I'm thinking of adding a couple of Vibrant bottle resonators. I'll have to measure to see if they would fit.

Those Vibrants will definitely dampen. Should help with the drone.

I think your better off selling it and buying a TRD or @dirtydeeds exhasut.

I'll second on the @dirtydeeds. I put their 8" system on my truck this week, and I couldn't be happier with the sound. Quiet at idle and highway speed, growls nicely when you get on the gas.

 

That resonator will only pull down the other frequencies. Not the 130 hz you’re hearing as drone.

To fix the issue you’ll want helmholtz resonators. But that system will prove very challenging as to where to install them.

Their ultimate location is difficult to install there because it’s dual pipes.

I have not added any resonators yet. I just checked tightness on all the bolts. They were all still at 40 ft/lb.

I like the way they slightly rumble. You think it’s too much? Or there is drone down the highway?

Thought you had TRD exhaust?

 

Yea for sure. Doesn’t sound like it’s forced. When you let off the pedal it’s got a nice rumble, not obnoxious. I’m not a fan of the super loud exhausts.

 

Resonator= fancy name for " Glasspack" perforated metallic tube, packed with fiberglass. I really like the looks of your system and the pictures.

Did you notice any mpg gains with your exhaust?

 

I had Magnaflow and then swapped it out with a TRD.

 

I didn't see any gain on MPG.

 

Just installed my magnaflow system. Definitely not loud. Actually hardly noticeable at idle. Driving range has a little drone in the cab, just enough to let you know it's there. I think it would be nice to have a bit more db's with keeping the same deep tone. I don't like other over the top obnoxious systems at all with their "patented sounds"

 

I'll wait for few thousand miles, they need to break in

 

I really like the dual tailpipe look.

but...how do you lower the spare tire? looks like the pipe is over it.
