Is there any special care that is needed to to care for the Lunar Rock paint? I have had the truck a week and already noticing some small scratches and swirl marks. Just keep it washed and waxed with standard wax? Thanks

It should be the same as standard paint. Its a normal two stage paint.

Scratches and swirl marks may be coming from how you're washing the car. Don't take it through automatic car washes if you care about swirls, it'll absolutely fuck your clear coat.

I wouldn’t say anything too special but it certainly lacks the sparkle that many paints have that help hide swirls and other imperfections.

I’d never use and automatic wash (unless it’s touchless) or brush at the carwash.

I recommend taking it to a detail shop that can decontaminate the paint and apply a quartz coating, it will last anywhere from 1-5 years depending on what you get. Wax isn’t really a thing anymore.

if you’re serious about keeping it clean you may research double bucket washing and invest in some new detail supplies from someone like chemical brothers or a million other places online. Might even want to have a detail shop apply a film that is self healing. I applied it to my front and to the door pilars.

I noticed bugs and tar show up a lot more, but I'm sure that would also be with white

Swirl marks happen on every color the same but show up more on some than others. I have learned to keep them under control by avoiding touch car washes and pre washing with a touch-less wash before a hand wash. I also dry with a leaf blower and go over with waterless wash or detail spray after that.

Not sure what you are using to hand dry or if you hand dry. My truck is black and shows everything. I noticed drying with a large microfiber cloth reduces swirls compared to a traditional towel. It also dramatically reduced water spots

Mine came from the factory all marked and swirled. Took silvery 2 months after build date and 4 miles on the ODO. spent a day doing paint correction and ceramic coat. All over the coat products. Made a big difference.

Mine has been pretty good. I did develop a few dark spots from a tree over my driveway. I make sure to always have a clean mitt when washing, pressure wash and pre soak most dirt off before washing.
I had a detailer come and buff the whole truck with a small rotary foam pad, looks better than new. It does show rock chips easy with the black plastic bumper upfront. PPF is a damn if you do, damned if you dont item IMO.

    Never automatic wash

Rinseless wash is the way to go. Optimums ONR is the gold standard. DIY detail makes a nice one too as does P&S

give your truck a good wash, decontaminate with iron remover, a quick polish, then a ceramic coating. You can DIY.

optimum, DIY DETAIL have nice products. Easy to use.

use a spray polish. Thank me later.

google “Yvan LeCroix”. Heed his advice. Thank me later. I went too far down the detailing rabbit hole. Yvan pulled me out. He has a very efficient process that works. I was terrified of rotary polishers. Not any more.

I'm still fighting getting the paste polish off of the black plastic parts. I'm using a spray someone here mentioned, and it works, but there's one particular stubborn spot. I like the paste wax because it seems to last longer, but the paste is more difficult because I'm a slob putting it on.

the newer spray waxes are far easier and as durable as a paste wax. I’d say even more durable. As a bonus optimum and meguiars synthetic spray wax will not stain trim. I use both as a drying aid.

but…….. if you must use a paste wax, AND happen to get some on your trim:

I’ve tried everything, including peanut butter, lol. The m39 just works. It’s extremely hard to find but a bottle will likely last you a lifetime.
