Lower control arm bushings?

    hi guys, I have a 2004 4x4 access cab with 215k, its time to replace the lower control arm bushings. I have found at least two mfrs that make just the bushings. Has anyone done this yet, if so was it pretty easy?, ie did ya burn out the old ones and the new bushings fit without a lot of modding?

    I dropped off my lca’s this morning to get new oem bushings pressed in. The shop is doing a few things I didn’t have the tools to do at home. If you have a 20 ton press or torch and some time, you should be able to swap them out. It won’t be an easy task though.

    You could also buy some brand new OEM LC Arms like I did when a shop rebuilt my whole front end. Bushings should be included with the arms ($pendy either way you go). You may even need new cam bolts depending on how seized they are. Keep us posted.

    thanks for the feedback, I have the torch and press, hopefully the existing hardware is in good shape. Won't know until I pull them off. Looking at the visible parts there is very little rust fingers crossed.

    On my 3rd flux capacitor. They just don't make 'em like they youstacould! Shoulda went OEM
    So didja end up cutting those bushings out? pics? how many beers?

    Hey skrunkle, I had to cut off the ends of the passenger side LCA bushings with a sawsall, this also cut off the cams which were rusted solid to the interior of the bushings. A cutting wheel would not fit so I had to use the saw. I ordered new cams for left and right sides, had it aligned yesterday and it drives like new again with the new bushings and cams. I have SPC upper control arms, Bilstein 5100's with TRD springs and new upper and lower ball joints. The steering rack bushings were fine so I left them alone. I ride on 9x18 wheels with a -12 offset. The alignment tightened up the caster so I have to trim a bit more off my front bumper due to rubbing in tight uphill turns.

    No pics but cutting out the bushings on the passenger side added a couple of hours of labor, I LOVE beer, but I don't drink when I work on my cars. It causes me to do things like forget to torque bolts, tighten lug nuts etc LOL
