So, I got my new TRD Pro wheels installed and they look and drive fantastic. I had a shop swap the TPMS over from my old wheels but now I have a mild low speed click or clunk when stopping and when making tight turns into my driveway, etc. Also get it making slow min radius turns, although it goes away after a circle or 2.

I pulled the wheels and everything looks fine but I did notice that the brake rotors have a little play on the lug nuts. So it might be the rotors taking up that slack depending on if I last braked or accelerated the opposite direction. It does seem to make more noise if I reverse brake, then go forward and brake. Also makes more clicks when straightening out from those circles.

Anyone else seen this issue? It is hard to imagine how swapping a set of wheels could cause some new issue like this but I will need to get it sorted, either back to the shop that did the work or maybe to the dealer. Again, everything looks fine under there, almost new. LOL.

I don't have an answer, but noticed a small clunk when turning at full lock at low speed in my 25 Off-Road. Only 4500mi. Seems to be intermittent, so I'm not confident the dealer would be able to reproduce. Haven't had the wheels off yet, but planning to rotate at 5k,so I'll check the rotors then.

Mine is more repeatable. I have my truck at the dealer for a look. I just had an independent shop swap my stock wheels for the TRD Pro takeoffs. All they did was take the TPMS off the stockers, put them in the new wheels and install them. No other work whatsoever, so I am not sure how that could be an issue... unless maybe they damaged something while putting it on or off the lift. I pulled the wheels and didn't see anything. I don't believe in coincidences but honestly can't see how the wheel change could be a factor. I would have taken it back there but we have a road trip in a couple days and I need this fixed right and fixed quickly. If Toyota finds that something was damaged by unnatural causes, I will have to deal with the wheel change guys later. I am hoping this is just a sketchy CV joint that should be replaced under warranty.

So, to close the loop on this, my dealer said it was just the aftermarket cat shield rubbing on the skid plate, or maybe the rear of the cat shield rubbing where it bolts onto the frame. I believe I contributed to this when I jacked the truck from the side frame to install the wheels. I heard some pops that I figured was these plates articulating, which may have loosened everything up a tad, but I had never before had any noises from them whilst driving. So, I need to get under and have a look... maybe put some grease where the panels touch and retorque all the bolts. Although it may be hard to eliminate all noise since to fit the Talons shield you have to bend the little locating tab on the TRD skid out of the way. That probably introduces another degree of freedom into this assembly.

The dealer did not charge me for the diagnosis, which I thought was gracious. But I suspect some of that was due to them being able to do the final fuel line recall fix so it was still a profitable visit for them.

I got underneath, loosened up the cat shield mounting bolts to relieve any tension on the panel, then refreshed the anti-seize and torqued them back down. 100% quiet now. I love my Tundra again. :)
