I have done a full system and lots of trial and error until getting to my current set up. I recommend replacing the HU with aftermarket and from there it’s just selecting the equipment that suits your needs/budget. If you have specific questions would be happy to help.

Infinity Kappa 6.5" xovers in front, Taco Tunes 5 channel amp, and a 10" Rockford shallow sub behind rear seat. Huge improvement over stock. No distortion at least that my old ears can hear. I just used the OEM amp mount. No need to spend extea $s on the TT one. Sound is night and day. I did not replace rear speakers because i never have passengers. I will add that i bought Infinitys on sale from Crutchfield they came PNP with all adapters mounting and wiring. I see no reason to replace HU at this point. I highly recommend the Xovers in the sails.

I haven’t replaced the head unit yet, but I did replace all the door speakers and added a 5 channel amp and a 12” sub. My wife wasn’t too keen on the idea of immediately putting more money into my new truck, so I agreed to a $1000 budget. It took some researching but I managed to do the amp, speakers, and sub for just under $500 (installed myself).

I’m really happy with the setup and am now looking at the Tesla style tablets that are currently on sale for about $500.

I am also in the market for one. I almost pulled the trigger on ********* but came across some horrible reviews from recent. Everywhere I checked I kept coming across James at tech12volts.com. They have some option there from what I can tell are great deals. Im waiting on a reply from them now and will most likely be pulling the trigger on the

Go with James at Tech12Volts. I just installed his JBL system and it is amazing. I paid $940 which included JBL 4505 marine amp, hertz components in all 4 doors. 12" JBL sub with box, sail panels and all the supplies to install the unit. It took me a full day to install it but it wasn't bad. The good thing about the hertz components is no crossover to run and with his adapters the only wires I had to cut were the speaker wire adapters to tie in the tweeters.

Why buy sail panels when you can EASILY cut the ones you have with a hole saw?

Because it gives a factory look and if I upgrade my truck I can take the radio with me along with the sail panels.

The factory ones are molded. No matter how well you made a hole the speaker grille would still not look as good imho

Another recommendation for Tech12volts.....I installed the complete system from him last week. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I still have the factory HU.

Once you get a new headunit the skys the limit. I got a Kenwood Excelon a few years ago, and I m finally getting around to getting rest of components installed. I m trying to quiet down the truck with deadener, but im under no illusion. It s still going to be noisy considering I riding on MT s. I m running my own wiring, so I can go big watts, and not have to worry. So far I have an Audio Control DM 608 dsp, a 4 ch Rainbow Germanium amp, an 1800 watt 10" Cresendo sub. I may get another sub before it s over :D Still need a mono block/s, but making final preperations for installing. MT s be damned. I will hear good sound at 70mph:headbang:

I'm wondering what kind of a box are you going to use on the 10" subwoofer?

I am leaving back seat out and building a wall against back of cab. The last foot of bottom of wall will rake out to about 30 degree. Sub\s will be there; bottom facing. It would be more symetrical. I ll have plenty of room. Amps and crossovers will be in lower middle of wall and 4 mids will be on upper part of wall. Then components in front doors and coaxials in rear doors. My dsp will output 8 channels so thats the plan. Seems like they always change though.

I went with a Phoenix android HU and and a single sub from James, makes a night and day difference. When my stock speakers start to blow I will be replacing from James and also check to see if he has a sub box for passenger side also.

I hooked up James system and left my stock speakers in for a week until I could get to the ones he shipped me. I blew the stocks in 5 days, causing my amp to go into safe mode LOL
