Been checking around for a while and there are so many damn choices, just not sure where to go and which to choose. So, I thought I would ask the experts, my peers.

I have a 2013 4x4 and I'm looking for a 255/75/17. It's just a tad bit narrower and not quite as tall as the stock 285/70/17. I do not want an aggressive tread, so something that is quiet would be appealing too.

Please suggest any other size or brand if you like, I'm open to other ideas, comments, etc.

I don't really want a "street" tire, looking for an all-terrain tire.

The intended use of your truck would be helpful. Do you ever plan on going off-road? Rocky terrain? Dirt roads? 100% highway? Do you tow anything? What about the weather where you're located rain, snow, etc...

I do plan on going offroad; dirt roads, not too rocky.
I do plan towing, possibly a motorcycle trailer. Maybe an Amerideck.
I live in Southern California, so mostly good weather. Probably go up to Big Bear or the Sierras, some winter driving in snow.

If you're on a budget I'd say Falkens are your best bet. There are plenty of members that love them, especially for the type of use you plan on giving them. Michelin ATX are a good option too if you don't mind or are able to spend more money. That's just my 2 cents

Look into the General Grabber ATX. I love mine. Work great off road and on. They kill it in the snow. Great tire and doesn’t break the bank. 275/70 18 They look good to. 044E5CF7-2775-4306-B392-94890429734C.jpg

    Rugged terrains are discontinued.
Cooper Discoverer tires are great but there are more than 1 type.
Michelin does not make an ATX. They do make a LTX AT2. Great tire.
There are more that 1 type of General Grabbers.
    Arturo tires are junk.
Ridge Grapplers are great but I would recommend the Nitto Terra Grappler G2 over the ridge grapplers and the Michelin AT2.
Cooper does not make a Duratrac. Goodyear does make a duratrac.

I would not recommend that tire size at all. Do you have a Rock Warrior with stock 285's?
I would stick with that size. There are more tires available. If you get stuck in the middle of nowhere you're more likely to find a 285/70/17 in stock at "Uncle bobs tire shop."

Would love to see the new Toyo Open Range AT on here too. I have them on my Tacoma, they’re decently aggressive looking and are killer in the snow as well as on/off road. Still looking at other options for my Tundra though

My 01 taco has Cooper discoverer st MAXX tires, they are quiet on road, agressive offroad. by far the best all terrain ive owned. Beats the hell out of my old BFG all terrains

Good point, however, I don't see myself out in the middle of nowhere needing a tire. But, you're right, you never know...

What about 255/80/17, is that size more common? How can you know what sizes are "common"?

Primarily looks, however, it should be slightly better on gas mileage. Big fat tires on trucks drop the fuel economy, and never cared for the look.
