So it has been awhile since I posted on here. I had a 2020 TRD Pro that I loved. Towed a Bigfoot travel trailer that maybe weight 7K tops. With shackles on the back of the Pro to reduce sag and such truck towed fine. I did put the aftermarket transmission cooler on it that was recommended on this forum.

But in August of last year in preparation for retirement....I traded in my Tundra and my Shelby GT350 on a bran new 2024 GMC Denali 2500 Duramax. Thought was.....take 2 vehicles off insurance, and only add one. Have a HD truck to never worry about payload issues and such like I had to with my Tundra at the time. The Denali is definitely overkill for anything in my driveway to tow. But it is an amazing tow vehicle.

In October I was able to get my GT350 back. I will not be getting rid of that again!

I have been trying to convince the wife to let me pull the trigger on a smaller truck (Ranger, Canyon, Tacoma, etc) to add to the stable for running around, towing the bass boat, etc...etc... This would allow me to keep the GMC to have for long trips and towing the Bigfoot.

This is because currently we have a leased BMW M550I that we plan on turning in come April at the end of the lease. It will leave us with 3 vehicles......the GMC HD, the GT350 which she can't drive because it is a stick, and her commuter car which has 170K miles on it given her commute.

This smaller pickup would be used for my short work commute, running around in town, and if she needs a commuter car because her car is in the shop she'd feel more comfortable in it than in the big HD truck.

So here is my question.........my options are
1: keep the GMC and get a small pickup (Ranger Raptor or 2025 Toyota Tacoma most likely)
2: trade in the GMC HD on a new Tundra 1794 that stickers at 71K but is on sale for 63K.

If I did option 2 we would NOT be getting a smaller truck or adding something new to the insurance etc...etc...etc...

It seems like the newer Tundras have better towing and or payload GVWR capabilities than in 2020.

But i see the internet chatter about the first year Tundras having motor issues and or the 24 Tacomas having transmission issues.

If y'all were in the same situation which way would you go and why? Is this new Tundra good to go for towing 7K with ease without busting GVWR? Is this new 2025 Tundra getting past the reliability concerns of the 2022 motors? For those that tow with 2025 Tundras.....any concerns or issues? And if I went the small truck route.... Ranger Raptor or Tacoma? And if Tacoma have any of y'all heard of any issues with the 2025 Tacomas?

Thanks in advance for any input!
