I'm moving from a Highlander to a Tundra for towing and offroad. I also want to sleep in it, so the short bed is out. Even if I could afford $50-60K for a new one, the reliability of the Gen 3 has scared me off. So I'm looking at 2018 (TPSS) through 2021. I'd like a Limited it possible, an Off Road maybe, and I could handle an SR5. But the long bed is a must have.

But when I look through the listings I see no long beds on the Limited or OR. Did they make them? Am I forced into an SR5 to get one? Any advice welcome. I'm in Colorado if that matters.

Welcome from The Springs! I have a 6.5Ft bed SR5 TRD Offroad. That bed length was only available with the double cab, not the crewmax configuration, not sure if that’s a deal breaker for you.

Double is fine. So I can keep looking for an OR.

OP, I've seen double cab (with 6.5' bed) limited trim trucks in that year range, but they're certainly the minority compared to Crewmax trucks of the mid-to-upper trim levels

Mine is a 2016, so out of the year range you’re looking for, but still such a killer truck!

When I search cars.com for Tundras 2018-2021 within 100 miles of Boulder, CO I don't see a single OR. Is the TRD Pro my only choice?

I really want the TPSS - AEB and radar cruise control. I'm old and I want the truck to stop if there a problem and I don't stop it.

I found tons of extended cabs when I was looking for mine, it was annoying. In every model from stripper deluxe to Platinum. I don't think you should have an issue at all.

Understandable. You might just have to wait for the right one to pop up, or travel if you’re willing. There might also be worthy trucks hiding under the SR5 filter that are TRD Offroads as well, I think that label gets missed some times

You might have to expand your search area a little bit to find exactly what you're looking for. The last 2 Tundras I have bought have been from about 400 miles away.

Double cab with 6.5 bed was exactly what I was looking for as well. I also absolutely did not want a sunroof, which the double cabs don't have. I ended up driving 4 hours to buy my certified used 2020 Limited at a Toyota dealer this summer.

It seemed like 4 out of every 5 trucks were a crew cab/short bed when I was looking. My search was within about a 250 mile radius. Clean, low-mileage DC's are out there but you might have to travel a bit to get one.

How tall are you? I'm 5'10" and manage to sleep on the rear bench in DC. Move the passenger seat forward, and there's enough space to fit legs.

I have also a bed setup in 6'5" bed, can fit there no problem, of course, but getting in and out of bed is a problem on its own. Especially, in winter.

May I suggest to move to a Sequoia? Same engine/transmission combo, same electronic whistles and bells, two adults can sleep full length inside, in a much more convenient setup than any Tundra can provide. The only 2 downsides are Sequoia is a bit more expensive than Tundra, and it has a smaller gas tank. And independent rear suspension is worse than the solid axle in case you are looking for THAT type of offroading.
