    Hello all,

First time on here so forgive me if I’m posting in the wrong place.

I am looking at getting a new Tundra in the summer and I was comparing the TRD Pro and the 1794

I love the interior of the 1794. The brown leather is just awesome.

I love the exterior of the TRD Pro with the grill and the embossed TRD on the back bed.

Unfortunately, I can only get one. Which would you recommend?

I won’t be doing a bunch of off-roading, or towing, but I will be hauling things like robots and friends.

I saw a thread about the 1794 seats tearing. Is that a big problem? Is the TRD pro a smooth daily driver?

Should I wait for a redesign? Which model holds more value? What are some common modifications? I don’t like anything showy like LED bars and grill replacements (although I’d consider a TRD grill if I got a 1794). But things like console lock boxes, step under glow, new floor mats, ect

What do you guys think? Sorry for the long post and questions, I just want to make sure I’m making the right purchase

You can get the 1794, and put a better suspension on it

    Welcome!

They both hold their value well. I'd say go for the 1794 since you're going to spend most of your time with the truck in it.

It's cheaper and less invasive to add pro suspension and cosmetic pieces to a 1794 (except the bed stamp) than it is to retrofit 1794 interior pieces and features to a pro.

I went into my dealer last year looking to get into a pro and ended up wanting a platinum. Fell in love with the 1794 interior and snagged one that wasn't there long enough for the dealer to load it up with addons.

So everyone's different but if you plan to keep stock, get the pro. If you're comfortable modifying, get an "amateur" trim.

    Welcome from SE PA!
I say get the 1794 and then decide what kind of upgrades to meet your needs as you go along.
I have the 1794 CM and love it. I like the interior and the chrome. I even have the chrome wheels. (Obviously I'm not rigging it for off-road.) It came with a Line-X liner. I've only had it for 3 months but no seat problems thus far. I've put a BakFlip MX tonneau cover and a 12 Volts Solutions remote starter on it so far. A Pop-n-Lock tailgate lock is next on my list. Eventually I'll put a new head unit in it, maybe a Tesla type, and some under-seat storage under the back seat.
Good luck with whichever one you get!

Sounds like the 1794 edition is the way to go for me. Do you know where I can source a TRD pro grill?

Woah, wait. It doesn’t come with a remote start? That’s news to me!

I have an aftermarket viper remote start on my Honda, and it’s not very good. That’s a little disappointing that it doesn’t come with one

Well the pro is an SR5 with leather and fancy shocks that you will almost certainly never benefit materially from. If you like the 1794 interior (I can't look at it without wincing but that's the good thing about having options!) then that's the route I'd go.

    OR consider Platinum!

OR get actual comfy seats in an SR5 with the sport package and be super scooped!

you get a BETTER than Pro grill on the Platinum. IMO the Pro grill on the 18/19 trucks is just not very attractive and the other black grills look better.

    So to recap a Platinum:
    =Gets nearly all the options
=doesn't have that awful pimpmobile front grill and 1794 badge (although it does have the pimp diamond stitching inside)
=looks better than a current model Pro once wheels are changed
    =COSTS LESS!
