Definitely see the sticky thread about the potential cam tower leaks. Make sure you go through the pictures and can inspect for that, its a very expensive repair and usually shows up between 60k-90k miles or 95,000km-145,000km. Other than that, just test drive it like it owes you something, no test drive is complete without going wide open throttle, that's when some misfires and other issues show up. For example, I drove a 17 F-150 w/ 46k miles on it before I bought my Tundra, it threw a check engine light the minute I went WOT, if I hadn't done that during the test drive I may have found out after the sale and at that point is awfully hard to prove it was a pre-existing problem.

Hi, I own a 2017 Tundra Crewmax SR5 and no issues other than paying for preventive maintenance. I agree with the other comment to look for any sign of the infamous “Cam tower” leak. The thread on it has me paranoid myself but so far so good. My Tundra currently has 54500 on the odometer. Other than that, I would say that it’s a solid truck and you will be happy for sure.

That mileage could be hard or easy going, give it a really good look over. You can tell a lot by rubber wear on the brake pedal. Watch for rust. BTW welcome to the forum!

Yea, checking the brake pedal makes sense.

As with anything signs of (or lack thereof) responsible use and regular maintenance are good indication of how reliable anything mechanical will be going forward - but never a guarantee.

In general - Toyota’s are more “forgiving” of spotty maintenance than other makes and at the right price any Tundra can be usually fixed and made reliable. Of course you in these days of people paying above new retail for some 2018-19 models with under 50k, there’s a lot less room for error.

Check it out well and if you have doubts let someone mechanical look it over too. GL
