In need a longer stud because I bought different rims and lugnut thread engagement isn’t what it needs to be. I’m going to press out the studs and put in longer ones… which aren’t around.

    Factory knurl is 16.5mm.

I can get some with 16mm knurl which is a little more than 1/64” smaller but has the right thread length (m14-1.5 x 60mm)

Question is, is this 0.5 mm smaller knurl a problem and a big “no” to install?

    thanks all.

I have no first hand experience with this, but would avoid it. If it is too loose, you run the risk of it spinning and unable to get the nut off. Cutting t off would be a hassle. .5mm is about .020”. That is a lot when dealing with interference fit stuff. My guess is that the bore is only .003-.005” smaller than 16.5mm and the 16mm will slide right in with no force. I am a hobby machinist and don’t work with knurled stuff to much. Standard interference fit without knurls is usually 001-.0015”

I’ve decided to run 9/16 x 18 studs. These have a knurl of 16.38mm. Thanks!
