We took our first decent road trip in our 2025 Limited TRD OR with the factory 3” lift this weekend.

For anyone that is wondering, the engine did not lock, seize, or blow up so that’s a plus.

    In all seriousness, I have owned a 2015 SR5, 2018 SR5, and a 2021 Platinum before this one.

When it comes to performance, drive ability, and comfort, this truck is far superior than the second gen. This trip was mostly interstate driving with the cruise set at 77 MPH. On my departure I had a tail wind pretty much the whole way which yielded 20 MPG average. On the way back I dealt with a half value headwind yielding me 17 MPG average.

I put a couple of tanks of non ethanol through it and it seemed to like it as I noticed the mileage to be a little better with it. Could have been coincidence who knows.

To conclude, I wanted to bring a little light into what always seems like negative horse crap in regards to these third gen’s. There will be issues, hell mine could have issues next week. But for now it is running like a champ and I am extremely satisfied with it over my second gen’s up to now.

For anyone thinking about making the jump to a 2025 I’d recommend it. Like I said, 4400 miles on mine now and with each mile that passes I am realizing how much more superior this truck is that its predecessors.

Glad you had a great trip! I have own Tacoma's for the past 30 yrs. but the kids just got to big. Somewhat similar to you we took our 24 Tundra on a 2400 mile round trip with the kids shortly after purchase and the truck really was a joy to drive. On the freeway we avg almost 20mpg. I will admit to the worries around this 3rd gen, and as you say there's always tomorrow, but to this point other then an occasional break squeal I really can't complain. We've got 14000 on ours now and are planning another long trip this summer. Nice to hear good stories. Guess it's kind of like reading the news all the time, seems like nothing but bad stuff and it can get you down.

Rolling hills for a lot of the drive, MO/OK if you are familiar.

For tires, the stock 265 Falkens.

My 24 Platinum Hybrid is a great road trip vehicle.

Last June when it was all stock I drove from Sarasota, FL to Duck, NC and back for about 1700 miles round trip. I've never enjoyed a road trip before. Got about 19MPG for the trip because I drive 80-85MPH on the highway.

We're planning to make the same trip this June except now I have 2" front leveling struts with 285/60R20 tires and new +20 wheels.

Yep, I35/49 - for me anyway. What's cool about that trip is crossing the old Santa Fe Trail. I had seen it in NE NM, but crossing it there I recognized the wagon pathways, many times in parallel not all in a row like I had imagined. Talk about the original Overlanding!!

Recently returned from a 1,500 mile road trip (Chattanooga, Lynchburg, Nashville, Memphis, and back to Chattanooga). Amazing road trip vehicle, especially with the Automatic Noise Reduction! Very comfortable, got 20.3 MPG over the whole trip. Couldn't be happier! I also have the TRD Offroad package, no lift, and riding on 18" TRD Pro rims with stock size tires.

So far my 24 build date 05/24 has been flawless 12K miles. Got a screw in the crappy wild peak 20”. Not realizing I paid for the wheel and tire protection, lol. Toyota replaced it with another crappy wild peak…I ain’t complaining.

We'll be roadtripping from CO to FL in about 3 weeks. 4400 miles round trip. It will be the third cross country trip for my Gen 3.

The 500+ mile range is nice, compared to 300 miles in my previous Tundras. My wife's bladder usually fills up long before the tank runs empty.

Awesome trip! I did one back in the summer of 2022 when I lived in Reno, NV. My 2022 TRD Sport DC only had around 2500 miles before I drove to visit family in Austin, TX. Drove east along I-80 thru Utah and Wyoming then south thru Colorado and New Mexico before reaching Austin. From Austin, I hopped over to DFW and OKC before going west thru NM and Arizona. That trip was about 5000 miles over 2 weeks thru 8 states.

After I get my replacement engine and redo the break in phase, I have another long trip planned from Idaho to Illinois with side trips to Indiana, Kentucky and Wisconsin. This trip is estimated to be around 4000 miles thru 12 states.
