    2023 Tundra Capstone
    Hey all,

Long time Tundra owner here. First was a used 2001, then “splurged”
on a new 2012 Crewmax and have driven that ever since. Loved the truck, but was starting to want some of the newer features and started looking at another new one several months ago. Kept watching, thinking I’d go for an SR5 or maybe a limited. As I was watching, I kept seeing a 2023 Capstone with 12,000 miles on the local dealer’s inventory and the price kept dropping.

Finally it got to what I considered low enough that I might as well check into them and see what fancy stuff the Capstone offered that I definitely didn’t care about. Based on pics, I wasn’t excited about the interior, and I definitely didn’t give an rip about heated/ventilated seats or a panoramic sunroof, or any of the other unnecessary frills, but what the heck, I figured checking it out wouldn’t hurt. I was curious if there was anything wrong with it that was the reason for it not selling for 4 months. I was also aware of the potential problems with Gen 3 and thought maybe one of those things had led to an early trade in.

I happen to have a nephew that’s a salesman at a sister Lexus dealer that was able to get the scoop - it was simply the sales manager’s truck and he traded for a 2024 Capstone because “That’s what car salesmen do.” They weren’t sure why it wasn’t selling.

TLDR version - I now own a 2023 Capstone. All those stupid features took about 4 days to ruin me forever. Heck, even the white leather looks much better in person IMO.

Anyway, I’ve been a lurker on the forum for years and figured it was time to finally join.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum! I can understand the need and thoughts as you searched! I am still in a 2017 1794, but miss some of the things I had previously.

    Enjoy the ride!
