    Howdy FGT friends,

I'm getting ready to hit the road for awhile (6-24mos?) in a dually and fifth wheel. I can't fathom the thought of parting with my creampuff of a truck. It's perfect. I love it. What should I do for storage? I have friends in AZ, perhaps I could try to store indoors on a battery tender in AZ and have them spin around the block once a month or so? Any other recs? Thanks

damn for 2 years?! Lol thats extreme but doable. Im sure someone else will chime in with better recs but id personally try to get it damn near empty on fuel, put it on jack stands so the wheel bearings dont get a flat spot, window shields to keep as much UV light out of the cabin as possible, id even put rodent poison/traps some where near the vehicle. If leaving it stand still is a must. Im basically telling you everything i should of done with my element thats been sitting in my driveway for just about that amount of time. Maybe more. My brake rotors are rusted to shit as well.

Otherwise, loan it to somebody and ask them to drive it once every 2 weeks or so around the block. That would be ideal

Having someone be able to drive it occasionally is way better than just letting it sit for 2 years. Even if you let someone else use the truck as their weekend truck, it's better off than just sitting in one spot not running for such a long period of time.

All that said, I'd probably load that damn thang up with fuel stabilizer "just in case". Bottle of Seafoam for every half tank. Once mixed, run the truck for 15 minutes to get the treated gas into the works.

I had a VW rabbit when the service sent me to Korea for a year and incorrectly told me I couldn’t ship it. I put it in a mini storage with fresh fluids and Stabil in the tank. I put wood blocks under the four corners to keep the tires from getting flat spots. Also disconnected the battery. A year later the outside was dusty, the inside pristine and it fired right up.

Another vote for leaving it with a friend. I would pick someone I trust who has space and ask them to drive it 2-3 times per month

Thanks for the recs, fellas. I think I'll ask a friend in AZ to hang onto it and put some miles on her very few weeks. I'll post back with where she ends up!

That's the route I would go. This way the fluids are circulating and being changed out every so often (gas and oil). I would also caution you on fuel stabilizers if you run ethanol gas blend (10%). Check out Project Farm on YouTube and the testing he did with fuel stabilizers.
