The door lock on my 2020 SX Tundra went bad. The Toyota repair tech. said it looked like someone had tried to pick the lock and messed up the tumblers. I had the dealer order a new lock. When I took my truck in to have the lock changed the Service Wrighter told me that Toyota could not provide me with a lock set up for my original key (the replacement lock came with two keys that will not start the truck). The dealership was going to charge me about $300.00 dollars for the replacement lock and instillation time. I complained about the key situation, and they lowered the charges to about $150.00. I appreciate their attempt to placate a dissatisfied customer but i really would like a lock that works with my original key. There are several part numbers on the original lock does anyone know if Toyota can provide a lock that came with my truck? I bought the truck new from my local Toyota dealer they should have the vin number. Was I a victim of inadequate effort by whoever ordered the replacement lock? I really expected better from Toyota.

I’m not familiar with a 2020 tundra, but for any other vehicle i’d probably just remove the new lock from the door and take it and the original key to a local locksmith to get it sorted out right quick. Heck, he might even be able to fix the original lock too?

Sounds like someone just ordered the wrong part and is trying to pass it off to you. That lock in the door takes less than a half hour to change. Very easy. Try calling a different dealer and explain your issue but don't mention the first dealer.
