Hi Guys, My 2021 is going in soon for premium Line-x. Now I noticed our trucks have the rail system. For those of you with oem spray in. Can you share some pictures.

Is the oem way to tape around the rails? or do they remove them then spray then re install?

My understanding is the line x is 1/4" thick I don't like the idea of re installing rails onto that thick of rubber.

Any help would be great so I can advise installer how I want it done.

I would also like to know how the oem does the tail gate? I think the access panel is done on its own then re installed.

    Welcome from NY.

I would remove the rails and get some screws from Home Depot or Lowes and put them in half way in and let them coat the whole bed. Then after it's done remove them and throw them away and reinstall the original hardware.

I thought about something like that or just cap them off but instead of oem hardware would i not need longer ones to compensate for thickness of the line x?

I think line x removes box bed bolts too

    Alot of them
Installing the rails over the line-x is not an issue. Remove the rails yourself. They will charge you if they remove them (at least the shops here do). I would remove the tailgate panel and have it sprayed separately so that the screws aren't covered.

I think I will also remove the lower hooks too. I am just not sure about the bed box bolts to frame. I am worried if they remove them and the box get shifted

Do not remove bed bolts before taking it to the shop. I removed rails and tie downs. Put cheap bolts in place of factory bolts. Shop removed bed bolts, sanded and cleaned bed, taped what needed to be taped, sprayed, let it cure for a few hours, put the bed bolts back in place, took the tape off, then took the money and said get out.

Or mine. I'd think you'd want to have the bed bolts covered in Line-x, since they're almost never removed and it'll keep them from corroding.

Actually, I think the only thing they removed on mine was the plastic rail caps. Either that or they just taped them off. It came out great regardless.

If I ever need to install rails I'll just run a tap into the screw holes before installation.

I am not sure how they did mine but none of the bolt heads have Linex on them. I assume they removed the smaller ones on the tailgate.

Air bags, ARK liners, misc bullshit added also
I would recommend having them pull the bed bolts, and not covering them with liner. That way if the bed ever has to come off again, it wont need another layer of bedliner to cover the bolt heads. Say like someone rear ends you, and you have to replace the bedside. The only place my bedliner is peeling is on a bolt head, after having something drag across it. Down side is, the bed bolts are one time use, so you'll have to buy 6 new bed bolts.

Normally they will remove the tailgate to do the liner. They will also remove the insert panel on the tailgate and spray that separately, saving those little bolts from getting filled in with liner.

My truck didn't come with the rails from the factory, I added some from a member on here. I was able to use the factory bolts with the liner. I just pre screwed a bolt into every hole, before installing the rails.

And I like the suggestion of removing the bolt in tie down hooks. I would do that if I had a chance. Then install after the liner was installed.

    And that's my .02$.

Thanks for all your help guys. I have called the shop and they said they would remove the rails for me . But what I think I will do since I am very OCD.I will remove them all my self and the tie downs used other bolts to cap off the holes like you guys suggested that way I can re install and torque things down to spec instead of them zapping everything thing back together with impact gun.

I think the plastic top caps I will leave them alone and they can tape up to them.
