I have a 2005 Tundra SR5 TRD extended cab truck. Have noticed that when trying to climb up a short incline the truck seems to lose power. With the gas pedal pressed to the floor my rpms are around 3000 and the speed will go from 40 mph down to 10 mph. Also top speed is only 50 mph. Any one else experience this scenario with their trucks? Don't know if it's the transmission or engine?

Yes, I've seen others post the exact same situation when they had a bad coil pack. But I admit, that also sounds like it could be something like the torque converter too, but it'd be unusual for problems in this truck specifically.

The shitty thing about coil packs in these trucks is, aftermarket - even from brands I trust like MSD - don't fire as hot/strong as the OEM Denso brand coils our trucks came with. And the Denso coil packs reflect that in price, and sadly, you can't buy them from scAmazon or fleaBay because they're both peppered with counterfeits.

Have you checked everything related to ignition, like spark plugs (when were they last done?), do you have any aftermarket bullshit like the K&N intake system that's a garbage power-loser on our trucks, are you running an oiled filter that will fuck with the MAF (coating it in oil) and mess with the throttle body (oil+dirt mixture)?

Are you currently presenting with any codes at all, other than the potential SAI codes?

Have you tried leaving the negative battery cable off for 10 minutes to force a re-learn, then go drive immediately after, and see if the problem is still there? (that could isolate whether it's a learned issue or not)

(EDIT: Bubba reminded me: If you're actually in limp mode, clearing codes will get you out of limp mode again! And while in limp mode, shifting is affected, so your shifting and operational stuff will feel whack AF, because the computer is running with "don't want to trash the engine" operating parameters)

Also, what gave you cause to title thread limp mode ?
Along with checking things @Shifty`mentioned, your 05 secondary air injection system possibly has a problem but codes should be present.
