So this has happened four times now, twice pre-super charger and two after sc installed. I have 2021 1794, and about every 2000-3000 miles while driving on flat ground going between 15 and 45 mph (not towing), I get a warning that the trailer brake controller isn't working, then the VSC goes out. The truck enters limp mode (can't go faster than maybe 10 mph) I either have to turn on and off the truck 3 or 4 times or use an OBD reader to clear the codes. Code is a P0121 Throttle/pedal position sensor.

Has this happened to anyone else, or do you have ideas?

The dealership Stapp/Interstate Toyota is of no help; before the SC was installed they couldn't figure out what happened and just reflashed the ECU; now, they are blaming the SC. I also have several other issues with the dealership, but that is a story for a different thread.

    Thanks,

    hello,
My last tundra 2002 model went through 2 throttle position sensors at about 100,000 miles each time (100k, then 200k). I replaced myself with genuine Toyota part from eBay for under $50 and it fixed it. There is some electrical meter testing done to adjust properly but both times just getting it to its normal idle was close. I found the meter testing advice most likely on this forum somewhere. The TPS seems to be a common part to go bad eventually. Good luck.

Also, mine would reset by unhooking the battery for a few minutes and was able to get me by till part came in. If it goes in limp mode just pull off the road to a safe place and unbolt battery and it would be fine for a few days to weeks.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to do some research on the throttle sensor. It weird how it starts with the trailer brake controller error then within seconds has VSC errors then limp mode.

You’re welcome. No guarantees it’s the same problem but was cheap for me to try the first time. Second time was identical so I new exactly what to do. Mine didn’t have all the other alarms but was much older tech/computer too. I meter tested some wires into and out of the TPS sensor with wife Revving engine to certain rpm’s from info I found on the forum or online somewhere to diagnose. It was supposed to show certain amp readings at certain rpm’s on one of the wires. This made me fairly confident it was going to work after the amp readings were not correct.
