I am looking at trading my GFs Jeep in for a Lexus IS. I know this is a Toyota forum but I see a few of you have Lexus sedans.

We are trying to keep it in the $20,000 range and less than 50 thousand miles.

I would appreciate any real world reviews on which is a nice daily driver. Doesn’t have to be fast just comfortable and reliable. We would like to keep it over 100,000 miles so that’ll be a good amount of time since she only drives a few miles to work

    Thanks all

I really enjoy driving my first Gen IS350.

I would research IS250 engine sludge if you were thinking about going that route.

If you want AWD, I think 2010 was the first year. My buddy has a IS300 (1st Gen and second gen). I have driven them both. Nice rides.

We have a 2017 Rc350 F-sport. I believe its the same as the IS but with a larger back seat.
Its a fun car. Not that fastest off the line, but 30-110 is crazy.
Overall we really like the lexus.

I have a 2014 IS350 F, AWD. Fast, sporty, sexy, reliable. I average around 20mpg city and up to 23 mixed.
The F-sport retains a higher resale value, upgraded suspension, etc.

Thanks. I just added the front, and rear camera, remote start, 10” sub, speakers, and an amp. It bangs now :rockband:

Thanks guys. We were looking at 300s and found a few that meet our needs. Seems like you can get 2015-2017s for a good price that were lease turn ins

You can "tune" the 300 to get the extra 50+HP missing that the 350 offers. Same motor...just tuning.

Exactly the year my friend has. He's at 80K miles now with no issues.

My 2007 IS350 is at 125K miles and has been a solid commuter car.

Nice. More ammo to try and talk her into one. Her Grand Cherokee in the last month has had more miles on the roll back than driven

With the AWD in these cars, they will laugh at a GC in the snow...or pretty much anyplace else except a dedicated 4x4 trail. The service you get from Lexus is top notch. I take my car in still. My last transmission service was 88.00.

For sure. Those coupes are sick.
That was the other thing she was concerned about was servicing prices. I told her it how much your paying for the GC we could pay more for a Lexus if it is more.

The ground clearance is comical in the GC so why not get a Lexus. We have the 1995 for a beach truck and the Tacoma for camping. So hers can stay on the pavement.

Thanks for all the info. We will keep researching. I think it’ll be a viable option if we can unload her car

Oh hell yeah. 467HP, rear wheel drive...fun cars. A corvette would smack it around a track pretty easy though.

So some items are spendy, but you need to know where to shop. For example:

    - Spark plugs. I was quoted 170.00 for 6. I found a volume dealership in AZ that sold OEM's to my door for 88.00. A member on Tundras.com hooked me up with the place.

    - HID light bulbs on these cars are 177-240.00 each. I found them in the oddest place for 50-55.00 through Home Depot online. They need D-4 HID's.

    - Struts are reasonable, and did them myself. 300.00 for KYB

-Brake rotors need a swap at 60-70K miles. I have had good luck with EBC and Centric Premium. The brakes on these cars are amazing.

    - On my model, having offset wheels so no rotations...tires go pretty quick. The GY's I have on the car now have been the best overall. The Michelin Pilot tires grabbed better, but don't last longer than a case of beer on friday night at the frat house.

Each headlight (housing / bulbs) are around $800-900 each.
Like Chris said, no issues in snow. I just got new tires because one popped (what sucks about having AWD) on a pothole- so I upgraded. It’s a beast.

Well I have created a monster lol. I was showing her the IS and a GX460 popped up and now we’re looking at used ones.
They look real nice. I guess we will have to go test drive one
