I have an idea of installing small white led lights under the truck to illuminate the ground when the doors are unlock. Similar to the lights in the bed of the truck. Is there a diagram that shows which wires I need to tap into?

I don't have a wiring diagram, but, I did mine by just testing the wires under the driver's side kick panel with a multimeter. If you are interested I'll pull my truck apart in the morning tomorrow when it is light out and try to figure out where I hooked everything up.

Mine is hooked into the Cargo Lamp circuit by the way.

ok so when you hit the unlock function on your key fob thats when the lights come on? Ahhh, I think I understand now. The light switch that turns that light on or when the door opens is the switch I can tap into so to speak.

Yup my lights come on when I hit the key fob or when a door is open and the switch is set to the door position. I'm not sure if you can tap straight in behind the switch because it is possible that the switch triggers a relay. Mine is hooked up under the trim panel under the door. I don't have a picture right now but I'll get one for you.

I wired mine to the footwell lamp circuit.

This allows them to fade on/off with unlock, lock, door open, etc.

thanks! I have a strip under the rear bumper and in the grill as well. Lights up the entire area around the truck when entering or exiting. Probably my favorite mod.

Check out this thread. I also wired mine up like this by tying it into the small footwell light that comes on when the door is opened (or when door is unlocked). Post #89.

Ignore the ADD inducing light show on the side. Parked in front of one of those laser Christmas light projectors at my friend’s house. Looks pretty cool though.

If you could post a picture of where you tapped into the wire that'd be really helpful.

Kee up the great work and thanks in advance!

I also tapped into the footwell lamp with my custom puddle lights and my floorboard lights.
I used vled puddle lights, very bright.

Tapped into the dome light for the Amp step lights so they come only when the doors open and the steps come down.
I used aluminum superbright led bars for the steps and panted them OEM MGM to match the body color.

Alright y'all, as promised I've got pictures. I will tell you where I have my lights tapped at the moment, BUT!!!! I really like the way @biebs96 did his and I will be switching my wiring up to match that and I'll show you how I think he did it and he can confirm or deny if he wants to. So, as for how mine is hooked up right now, IMG_1963.jpg
You can see the little red wire poking out of the factory harness right by the drivers seat.
    IMG_1964.jpg
I found a post a while back that said the color was a brownish-purple. The little wire on the far left I the one that I finally figured out was the correct one. As you can see from all the electrical tape It was quite literally the last wire that I tried, you know how it goes . I have no idea how to tell you which one is correct but I'll continue with the rest of the wiring.
    IMG_1965.jpg IMG_1967.jpg
I pulled this little rubber plug from the bottom of the truck and then in the hole inside the truck I could see the ground and I fished the wire through to the outside of the truck and replaced the rubber plug. I grounded my lights to a random bolt that I found that was pretty close and was easiest to get to. From there I think the wiring should be pretty self-explanatory but I'll help you out if you still have questions.

Now for the way I think the others have wired theirs up, and the way I will be switching to in the future when I have some time.IMG_1968.jpg
This here is the courtesy light, mine has been replaced with an LED.
    IMG_1969.jpg
You can pull the light out by giving it a gentle twist and it will pull out towards the front of the truck, this is easier when the E-brake is depressed fully out of the way, and then you will be able to splice into the wires there which is way easier than what I did so I would highly recommend this way instead!!! My plan is to extend my wire that already goes outside the truck and tap into whichever wire is positive, I have not found that out yet.

Awesome! It is a closed circuit. So in order for it to fade on and off both wires (pos and neg) need to be connected to each of those wires.

Hoping to install my LED's just like this today! Where on the inside of the hood did you place the lights? And did you run it through the firewall?

the grill lights are on the underside of the top piece of the grill assembly that bolts and clips to the front of the truck.

through the firewall is easy. There is a nipple on the grommet that houses a large portion of wires. Just cut that off and it passes through.

Hello, Installing puddle lights and definitely want the dimming effect. What connector did you use for the footwell tap? Just a t-tap in the line? Thank you.

I actually removed the little footwell light and installed my own LED strips running off that circut.

I usually use Posi-taps, although I soldered all those connections.
I also put an inline connecter close to the mirror in case I needed to remove it.
